ol' Maddog with his '95 ferd powered by a 12v cummins has layed down a 11. 601 pass in Phoenix--finally a true 11 second truck with no issues with smoke and lights--way to go Maddog----chris
I got to the track too late to see that green ford run. I did get to see some vidio of one of the runs and damn that thing is quick! Too bad the track won't let him run without a roll cage and nomex now. I don't know what that 4 door ford weighs but it's got to go 8500 or better. So think about that when you think 11. sec. My truck is ONLY 3 seconds slower and makes more smoke. More fun tomarrow!!! Way to go Mad Dog!!!
Richard broke the DHRA street diesel all motor national et and mph records. 11. 801@ 114. 65. His back up run was more than 1% faster so until he can back up an 11. 610 with either an 11. 72 or an 11. 50 pass it'll stand at 11. 801. Great job Richard!
Dennis of TS Performance ran an 11. 54 pass in Atlanta in early September, he was unable to back it up though.
Not to discount Richards amzing run but I do believe he has that truck down to 7000 lbs. and yes he did break a front drive shaft. That's two this year (one guy in Rockingham) so everyone remember those loops!
i saw and met richard at bandimere a couple of months ago (a nice guy!). that truck is awesome, with what looks to be like a 6" exhaust on it. it also doesn't smoke much for the power that it has even though it was at the mile high (smoke doesn't equal power ).
Jim, you need slicks or to get a 4x4 (well, 12valve of course ). i owe it to you for the first DTT drive, thanks man!
I just got home from the Tulare event and I have to congradulate my pal MADDOG After a crushing disappointment at SLC he came through with flying colorsOo. The whole family went with him to Phoenix and was cheering him on! Very cool indeed
He said he heard a noise on the second run and figured it was the transmission again. Turned out to be the front driveshaft, he had a u-joint give way. Time for some loops. I had a high school buddy lose his d-shaft on his 'cuda one night while racing. He pole vaulted over a fence and into a field where he and the car rolled several times. No more sixpack 'cuda
Well I got an update a bit ago. Ol' 2WDDOG went bracket racing today and wanna know how much not having 4wd hurt him? Try 14's and 15's in the 1/4 mile!:{ I think this proves something. 4wd is worth the extra weight and is an advantage. Especially on a very high horsepower truck. Next time you get that "my truck weighs more" thing goin', pull your front d/shaft and see how you do. :-laf :-laf
Well the "Dawg" got eliminated early, but still impressed some of his combatants by rollin' up on them hard near the finish line.
Perhaps someone didn't have another U-joint? Or maybe the driveline was damaged... ?
I gotta think that 4x4 is worth the extra weight until the 2WD's are seriously tubbed and rigged with huge slicks and other traction methods... Fletcher's 2WD twin truck is a prime example; he's dipping into the 11's, but still losing traction 1/2 way down the track with just regular slicks...
My 60' times with 4x4 are low 1. 7's to a best of 1. 65; hard to beat with a 2WD... Throwing out of 4x4 in 3rd seems to help a bit too. I'll keep my 4WD!
Looking forward to seeing everyone's times/ final results.
Brandon, he spit the bit (busted u-joint) on Sat and didn't make repairs. He had hoped to back up the 11. 6 run but that was nixed by the track. So he had the record at 11. 8, and a humbling in 2WD.
