Stock hitch

My oh my

So what do you do when you get to the RV park in the suburban and have to back up. Try to hire someone to do it for you. Looks like a good idea for those who don't want a truck but I see some serious drawbacks. I can't imagine anything less than a 2500 or 3500 pulling a large 5er. Sure that thing will allow you to put one behind you but could you pull it.

Alright, someone needs to be smacked for inventing this. I see its fixed to your hitch/frame... . now if you leave that on without hauling youre goign to go thru alot of tires! and those tires had better be E rated or at least put duals on there!!!!

Wow what will they think of next!

I guess you don't back up with that!

did you guys watch the little video. it actually showed it backing up. seems like a dumb idea to me. probably really expensive too. mark

Haven't you seen the big riggers with a set of doubles back up?? they lock the rear fifth wheel so it doesn't turn . This is the same setup the doubles run

We've had to build a jeep before to handle a drop deck or something along those lines. It works, but it's not the best solution. 1-ton truck = cheaper than attorney's fees after crash.

Anyone know what these cost? I have a fifth wheel and a regular cab truck. this was fine 'til we had our second child. I also have a Diesel Suburban. While it could handle the weight, it obviously couldn't hook up to the trailer, until you get one of these things. It would not be worth it if it was more then a couple of grand. I would rather get a new truck at that point...

That is one to sit back and watch for a LONG time.

Will be interesting the first one I see, definitely going to ask the owner how it tows.

You are introducing another complete system that could have failure. I thought the key was to reduce complication, not add to it.

I wonder what the brake controller would think of it? Is it the RV or WHAT? What do you think the BrakeSmart would do with it?

Let's see, wet skid, just which part goes which direction?

I don't get it, if you want a 5er, and room for 5 or 6, get a crew cab/ quad cab TRUCK!! If you want an SUV, get a TT, simple as that. Everything has its place, but this has no business being on the road with a soccer mom behind the wheel pulling a 35' triple slide toy-hauler. JMHO

I think that the whole point was if you are not made of tons of $$$ then this could be a way to solve the problem of having an suv and wanting to tow a 5ver that you already own. I bought my dodge back in 95 (back before the club cab) and it's the most dependable vehicle that I have ever owned. I don't really want to get another truck until dodge comes out with the real crew cab sometime next year. Even then, I don't look forward to payments, All of my toys are paid for! Of course, if this contraption costs too much, such as over $2,000 then I would say it's a waste to spend the money.

I do agree, a soccer mom should not be driving this type of thing down the road. I think that legally, you would have to have a doubles and triples endorsement on your license as it is technically another trailer. Already having a class b license for 15 years, that wouldn't be a big upgrade for me. This setup seems very similar to the big rigs that tow doubles.

This thing is great! If I get one now I can get a canoe rack for my quad cab and put my ATV in the back of my truck and still haul the fver and just think of the excitement if the hole mess broke away and was running parrallel beside you at 65mph!

wouldnt it be easier and safer to tow another trailer behind the 5er. put all the toys in it. jmho. mark

Yes it would, but I think Ill just leave the toys home and keep my fver on the trucks 5th wheel hitch where it belongs.

These have actually been around for years, maybe not this brand but this style and no I'm not talking about semi's. How do you think they pull gn horse trailers from the factory to the dealers, or even 5th wheel RV's. It's cheaper to pull 2 than 1 (at least for the dealer, the customer still gets charged the standard shipping freight). I've seen hundreds of these come into our yard. My boss was thinking of buying the diesel excursion and doing this (we had a contract with ford, had ford dualies as company trucks). They aren't cheap though. John

omg, i think these things are built in one of the suburbs here in the toledo area. i saw them advertised in an automotive type sales mag. it had a local and an 800 number listed. i still cant believe these things. mark
