Is College in Your Future?

first let me say, every since my wife and I moved to our current home we have been fying a US flag on a lighted flagpole just off our driveway. 6 years now. so i dont consider myself an ambualnce chaser when it comes to this sort of thing. i will admit we let our flag show a little wear before we replace them. $20 every six months starts to get in your pocket after 6 years. yesterday my wife came home from being gone all day and we found a plastic ziplock bag with a NEW flag and attached was a beautiful verse about pariotism. on the back was a hand written note in blue and red ink that thanked us for flying our flag and incouraged us to continue it :{ nothing else, no name or anything!!

I was first embarrased for someone noticing the condition of our flag, next came the unbelievable feeling of what the 9/11 event has done to our country.

God Bless whoever you are and know that for these deeds he will shine down on you and your family through the years to come.

Thank you

Before 9/11 there were two houses on my street that had a flag up. Mine was one of them. On 9/10 I was flying a battered and faded flag with some shredding. After 9/11 flags appeared all over. Many have gone away. I'd like to put up a new flag, but it's fine untill the rips enter the blue field was what I was taught. When it gets there, I give it to a scout troop for a retirement ceremony.

Anyone ever stop at the side of the road to pick up a car flag that's blown off? I have.

I work with a woman who saves all her vacation time and goes out towards the end of November then comes back the beginning of the new year.

On her last day, she passed out pens for a xmas gift to everyone in the area. The pens have a flag motiff. I thought that was a nice thoughtful gesture.

Am I over reacting?

My neighbor flys his flag day and night, unlighted at night.

This bothers me when I see it at night unlighted.

Am I over reacting?

I really shouldnt talk. I only fly it on hoildays during daylight hours.

Maybe I should put a light out there. (I mean on mine:D )

Well mine is on a steel pole that already had power and a street light to light the driveway. so i added a photo sensor and a 55 watt halogen spot light and pointed it up at the flag :D

I was floored by this jesture..... they just dropped off the flag with no contact info. I would love find out who did it to thank them and try and pay back the favor. if not, i will pay it forward someway or another.
