I am tackling a noisy throwout bearing tomotow morning. From looking at the shop manual, the cluch bell housing needs to be removed, which looks like QUITE a job seeings how I am doing this on my back, in the dooryard...

Has any one ever managed to replace the release bearing by just taking out the transmission? (I was able to do that on the 46 Dodge Power wagaon last season) I am in hopes of a chorus of "yeah you can" from those of you who might have done this in the past.

That's the way I did mine - I hope you've got a transmission jack because the transmission weighs 200 lbs. Take a close look at the end of the input shaft - I've seem more than one that looked like a piano leg. Good luck!
