I have been saving for awhile and have got to get one of those triple disc converters. I have a couple of questions. I have a stock 97 (so far) 4wd with 84K. I have not added any power mods because, I figured with a stock converter I would not be able to get it to the ground anyway. I am not for sure what kind of shape my stock trany is in, it seems to work normal, as far a crappy stock converter goes. The previous owners towed a 5er camper with it on some long trips. I don't know if they used overdrive or not. They said the fluid was changed a couple of years ago. My question is: Should I have Dave just put in new torque converter? Should I go with a new valve body also? Is it just better to go with a whole rebuilt transmission with a torque converter complete? What ever I do I plan on changing the fluid over to Amsoil synthetic. I really appreciate any input, Thanks!

I agree with zs- Along with the VB and TC, I got a rebuilt OD and a boxfull of parts from Dave. He helped me figure out what parts were worn or weak from the start and helped me put it all back together again. Call him. He's a good guy and knows more about what you have to work with than most of us put together.

I am starting to lean towards total replacement. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time, and if I spend the money now, I will probably not have any problems in the future. Dave sure offers a nice warranty, also!!!
