I change the rotors on my 98 4x4 and now my abs and brake lights stay on. They recycle off for a second then back on.
I have bled the entire brake system and replaced with clean fluid... . no luck!!
How can I test the sensors. . or what should I do...

The sensor is only about $35. 00 and only one or two bolts to put in. It is located on top of the rear diff. on two wheel ABS models. Twist it slowly and put a little bit of lube on it as it comes out. I also put a little oil on the O ring before I reinstalled the new one. It fixed the problem right away.

my light came on when i changed the breaks on my 99. I turned the key on and off about five times and it went out and stayed out. I dont know if thats in the 5 star service manual, or if its ******* luck, but either way it help. Hope you get it figured out. .

My 96 ABS light came on also. My mechanic told me there is a censor that is able to check the fluid for contaminants. When we compress the calipers this stirs up trash.
Start with a clean master cylinder reservoir. Then flush (bleed)RR,LR RF and LF wheel cylinders. This should clean up the brake fluid. Hope this works. Some times the light will just go out by itself once the trash settles down,if you don't flush.

I assume that since you replaced rotors, you were working on the front wheels, and that you have front wheel abs too. I had both lights on because of my passenger side sensor, Take it apart again, and also remove the bearings. Then visually inspect the sensor. Mine got chewed up BAD by a junk bearing. Le me know if you need more help.

I replaced the rear wheel sensor and that fixed the problem. Test for continuity and/or resistance of the front sensors. I'm not sure what the resistance should be and I haven't been able to locate it in the service manual. A prior post told me that the rear sensor, if good, would read 1200 ohms. If I find the info, I'll post. I'm sure someone reading this post will know.

OK, heres the latest...
After cleaning the brake system with new fluid, the abs and brake lights go off more freq. sometimes together and sometimes separate, but never off for more then 5 sec. then back on. . so maybe the there still is dirt on a sensor in the fluid. .
Help if you have more info...
