So on my 2005 4X4 I get the abs light and brake light on on my dash. Took the truck to autozone and they say the code reads Intermittant right front brake sensor issue. The part cost $77 so I wondered before I spent the money could I just clean it or something. I took the wheel off and the sensor wire dissapears behind the disc brake. 2 questions:

1. do you have to remove the disc to get to the sensor?

2. has anyone had any success cleaning the sensor?

I also have read about the sensor being the first sign of bearing failure. One side has been replaced but I don't remember which side. I better look that up.

Yes, you do. Naturally, you also have to remove the caliper. Not a big deal. There could be some debris on the end of the sensor, probably worth looking at before spending the $ for a new one.
