I did a search and only found 4 posts about this!

How do I pull the error code up on the odometer? My yellow ck eng light came on this morning.

I've seen this somewhere, but can't remember how to do it.

Thanks. . ;)

Found it.

Did another search and found it this time! :)

It's a P1693, not too serious (I think)... I'll see if it clears - if not we'll put a scan tool on it and wipe it out. ;)

Re: Found it.

I just had Dodge clear mine of 1693 and 0522. The first one says that one computer found a problem with the other. The second error has to do with the oil pressure gauge voltage being incorrect. Both are of no consequence. If you have the tech manuals the codes are list in Chapter 25 of Engine Controls section. I looked mine up before going to Dodge -- just to keep them on their toes.

Where did you get the scan tool and does it tell you any more than the magic 3 turns of the ignition switch?

My full time job is at a GMC dealership. One the mechanics has his own scan tool, I think its a snap on.

He didn't get a chance yesterday to scan it for me. Maybe Monday,... I'll post more details then. .

PS. I put that "D-Box" on the truck last week - that probably has something to do with it. :(

Billy, you say your job is at a GMC dealership? How does that work out that you drive a better truck than you represent?

Just kidding... ... ... ..... Kevin

LOL

The Dmb A$$ who I work for has said, "You need to get a real truck. . " and I'll say, "Nothing says real truck like plastic bedsides, door hinges that fall off. . etc, etc"

Here is an email reply I made to a guy who works there. Some one had just trade a '00 Dodge dually for a GMC. BTW the Dodge didn't sit on the lot for about a month before it was sold.

"Traded it for junk. Plastic bedsides, door hinges which can't be rebuilt, 3 times as many moving parts in the engine (a modified gas motor to burn diesel), Lesser fuel milage, uglier truck, have to deal with fat boy and his service dept for now on, harder to service, independent front suspension (Dodge has straight axle - best in the industry), new designed unproven engine, sluggish transmission which is always changing gears, all new GMC interiors stink, no positive engagement of 4-wheel drive. There is a tag on all Cummins that says med-heavy duty, both DuraCrap and PowerJoke tags say Light -Medium duty. Bigger trucks run Cat and CUMMINS 6 cyclinders,... because they are much better engines. My Dodge has modified software in the ECM which limits it's output, so it won't put out 600 horse power and 800 ftlbs of torque and twist the truck in half (compliments of Dodge)... this is why a Dodge like mine can run over 500,000 miles severe duty, or even up to 1,000,000 miles with no major repairs. It's only delivering about 1/3 of it's full potential!

Face it Cat, Fat Boy sucks, his ugly *** trucks suck, his stupid junk-yard dealership sucks. .

I rest my case. Go buy a Dodge CTD now. "

I may have exaggerated a little... ;)

The engine light went out on its on, this probably has something to do with the D-Box I hooked up last week!

:p

I have an early 98 24V and the key on / off doesn't give me any error codes, is this a feature that came later?

2000 RAM 5. 9L with some mod's Got the CH ENG light this morning so I did the OFF / ON and then the code P 1597 and then the P1597 came on . Should this go away in time?

Thank you SAM

Wow, you dug up an old thread.

P1597

Speed Control Switch Always Low

Cruise control issue. The code won't go away until the problem is fixed.

Check your fuses and the ASD relay in the PDC under the hood. Something is not right here if it ran fine the up and quit because you disconnected the batteries. The truck should still start and run even with with a dead TPS
