Does anyone know where the accessory relay is located on these trucks? This is the relay that cuts electrical power to the fan blower and power windows while the starter motor is cranking. I began having an intermittant problem. After engine start, the power windows and A/C would not work. If I shut the engine down and re started, the problem would go away. Eventually. this relay stuck open, (the hottest day of summer of course) and I would be unable to open my windows or use my A/C. I have since jury rigged this with a relay mounted on my inner fender well powering these two circuits. I would like to eventually fix it correctly.

I only have a 92 manual, but I don't think this is a relay problem. My electrical drawings show that the ignition swith has four poles, each pole has 4 throws (positions). One pole runs the fuel shut off, the second is the turn signals, radio, wipers, lighter and antilock brakes. The third pole runs the power windows and air conditioning, the fourth pole is a ground and runs the message center.
Switch operation:
pole 1 run & start
pole 2 run & acc
pole 3 run
pole 4 start
I think your problem is in the ignition switch or wiring, possibly a bad connection. There is a fuse link for this circuit, and the ac is fused, the windows have a circuit braker, this should rule out problems down stream of the switch.

Maybe it is my ignition switch. Come to think of it, the first time this happened was about six years ago, right after I purchased the truck (used). The anti lock light illuminated, and radio and turn signals were not working, until I shut the engine off and re started. Then everything seemed to work fine. The problem eventually went away, but came back with the power windows and blower motor not working. I went to Pep Boys and purchased the suspect relay. It looks very similar to the start relay, but I was was baffled as to where it is located.

The two relay mounting locations are, on the fuse block and driver's inner fender. The one on the fuse block is for the horn. My truck has 5 relays on the inner fender, the two large ones are for the intake heater. Of the 3 smaller ones, one is for the starter, the next one for the alternator feild(auto shut down), the last one is for the AC compressor clutch. I would assume that the relay that you purchased is one of the last 3, they appear to be all the same part.
Your truck would have to have all three of these relays, if in the same order as on my truck, closest to the hood hinge is AC, next starter, front is auto shut down.

Thanks for your help! It sounds like the #3 pole on the ignition switch went South. Everything at the fuse box was getting power except for fuse #1 and #2 (blower motor and power windows) I don't know what Pep Boys sold me, but it was only ten bucks. Anyway, my shade tree repair works just fine, I'm not looking forward to changing an ignition switch. I don't think I can fit my big paws up under the dash without tearing half of it apart.
