Ok, Finally breaking down and considering "Tapping the Magic Wire".

The choice is a tuffy because I really like the snappiness the VA box adds to the DD3's. This baby is pretty torquey, and the turbo spools quick.

Looking at the BlueChip APB box addition, because there is an adjustable knob you can mount to adjust the amount of additional fueling by the turn of the knob. Kind of simple & trick. Its supposed to add 85hp.

I do tow heavy, so am a little concerned about cylinder pressures considering the advanced timing of the VA and larger injectors.

The other option Im considering is going with the Diesel Dynamics Ultimate Fueling Module (basically an Edge Comp) and selling the VA. The DDUFM is supposed to have slightly less timing advance for less cylinder pressures, and it also obviously has lots of adjustable settings for different situations.

I know someone that had stacked a BlueChip 4-wire fueling box with their VA and ended up removing it because it was sometimes erratic, and caused the motor to stumble and set codes. Not sure what caused that...

So I'd like to know if it is ok to stack a Wire-Tap box with a VA? How many people have tried it? What were the results?

How reliable are the DDUFM/Edge Comp boxes? Do you lose any smoothness, or do they ever act up and cause your motor to run poorly? This VA has been flawless, and would like to keep the driveability, but add some ponies on the top end in case of rice-rocket attack. I would solder the wire connector if possible, and use a good ground either way.

So whats the best way to go? Van Aaken + APB Box? Or DDUFM and sell the VA?

Dont want to provoke box-wars, just looking for some more input before deciding.

Thanks in advance.

That is another interesting option...

Ok, so Im curious how this works. . If the VanAaken is good for about 60hp and an BlueChip APB box is worth about 85, does that mean if you stack the two, you should get about 145 hp increase?

Are there any conflicts between the boxes, or can they over run the VP44 when running stacked?

Maybe a single box that has both timing, and solonoid wiretap capabilities is safer than stacking boxes.

I have a Tst PM3 and a Van Aaken stacked together and have been for almost 2 years and no side effects. I'm also running 180 hp injectors too. If you want to know i'm sure there are a lot more out there that knows but from my experience i haven't had a minute's trouble out of what i got. I've got 133000 on the clicker and 100000 of them have been 400 hp and above so there should not be any effects to what you want to do but i would suggest keeping the box down low when you tow. I tried mine on different setting when i tow and level 1 seems to be ok and keep the EGT'S in check. Hope this helps you out if not give me a yell on here and i'll try to help you out if i can. Have fun and enjoy the extra power. if you come out to May Madness i'll show you what i got. Look for the maroon truck with stacks and that's my little baby. :-laf

I don't know for sure which way is best, but I really like my VA and APB combo. The adjustablity of the APB is great; it allows you to find the perfect balance of power, smoke, and EGT's.

Of course, after almost a year with this combo, I am finally going to get some injectors..... :D
