It's like the kids aren't even there... :)

No... I think they call that a standard cab! :-laf

The headphones I purchased were Audiovox (I beleive) and were much more robust than the several dealer-supplied ones before these pair.

I also didn't care for hearing Curious George several times in a row while pulling a 35 ft trailer in the pouring (and I mean Pouring) rain down a steep twisty mountain road...

Well Guys,

I got my courage up today and installed the DVD player. I don't have it wired yet but at least the scary cut and remove the headliner part of it is done. I promised pictures so here we go>>>

First, if you do much interior work consider a set of these. My son got this set for me as a Christmas present and they work great. Much safer and far less chance of breaking a plastic clip if you use these.

Interior panels removed from the sides and rear of cab, sunvisors, trip computer out. Penciled outline for cutting  my headliner.

I took the utility knife, cut the openings in the headliner. Drilled out the two center plugs as planned whitch worked really well and caused no damage to the headliner. Removed front headrests, folded rear seats down, moved front seats all the way forward and reclined them as far back as they would go. Removed third brake light and unplugged the connector so the harness would drop with the headliner. Dropped headliner down and rested it on the seats as planned.

Now I have got to admit a boo-boo. I mounted the bracket to the roof, ran the main wiring harness, moved the dome light harness and then went in for lunch. When I came back out all fat and happy I forgot to take a picture of it in place . Sorry. . The bracket is shown earlier in this post and it mounts to the two roof ribs shown in the picture just above this.

Now the headliner is back in placeOo. , you can see the mounting studs sticking down through the cut-outs. Harness is back out through the third brake light hole and now have mounted the shroud.

Now the dome light and finally the DVD player. Now go put the rest of the interior back together.

The main thing with interior trim is take your time and have patience, figure things out so you don't break any retainers or gouge the dickens out of the headliner. Also work with clean tools and keep washing your hands so as not to leave hand and finger prints all over the place.

If any of you have any questions I will do my best to answer them and share my experience regarding this install.

That is a sweet setup. Thanks for sharing. Did you happen to get a pic of the bracket only before the installing the headliner. Also, I have been wondering how much room is between headliner and roof in the area of the player. Let us know how it works. Been thinking of tackling mine soon. I got my Uconnect in a few weeks ago and ran the DVD wire harness up there from the radio.
Thanks again.

No, as I mentioned above I forgot to until I had the headliner back into place. I am sorry as I know that you are trying to do somewhat of a custom install and would have liked to seen it in place.

The bracket attaches to the roof bows where I have circled in the first picture. Tabs on each end of bracket slide into the slot in each roof bow. Then you use 4 self drilling/tapping screws on each end using the holes seen on each side of the circled tab in picture two. The bracket tucks right against the roof so there is maybe a 1/2" inch between the roof sheet and the bracket when installed. The view in picture three is the bracket on its back, when installed the threaded inserts hang down as you can see in the pictures above where the headliner has been cut.

Fixit, you are going to have to either buy the bracket or fab something very similar. If you are keeping the truck for a while I think the factory bracket would be your bet. You could knock off the threded posts that you don't need or whatever. The worst thing is going to working around the dome light if your unit is very long.

I have the factory bracket and all hardware, mine just sit further back than yours. I believe my unit sits further back over the map light and has nothing between the headliner and unit. I think my unit sits exactly between the 2 bows where yours is a little forward. What I might do is modify my bracket (cut/weld) so my unit mounts closer to the front bow so I can still put in the map light. let me go out to th garage and take some pix of my unit.

Ok. . here is my setup

Fixit, that bracket looks short. Is is out of a Quad Cab instead of a Mega Cab???

I was just looking at your album on page one in addition to the pictures above and it still looks kinda' short. Should be 32 1/2" for a Mega Cab / No Sunroof.

Even if you dump the map light you will have to deal with the opening or set the player back quite a distance. You still might want to at least consider the shroud as that is made to straddle the bulge around the dome light, there is a formed foam liner around the light that you can see in a couple of pics above so the opening won't simply flatten out. It is going to be a challenge.

Please let me know if you want more measurements or anything, glad to help.
