Additional Fuel Capacity??

I am considering adding some additional fuel capacity to our '94 2500 long bed. Have any of you had experience (good or bad) with any of the aft axle under bed auxilliary fuel tanks? I have already removed my spare tire, so that won't be a problem.

I don't want to put an extra tank in the bed area, because I sometimes need the full length bed to haul construction materials.

Hey Rob - Atlas makes a 60 gal replacement tank. They also have an add on 40gal (goes where your spare tire used to be. Check out page 21 of TDR issue 27 or www.aerotanks.com

Rob, I have the Transfer Flow 38 gallon aft axle tank on my '98. 0 3500. It has an automatic fuel transfer function that tracks fuel flow out of the main tank, then after 3 to 4 gallons have been used, it switches on the transfer pump and moves fuel into the main tank. Keeps the tanks fairly well equalized. Also has a dash mounted LCD status display that shows aux tank quantity, main tank quantity, total quantity, system status and indicates when the transfer pump is running. With this system installed, your stock fuel guage will indicate total fuel quantity in both tanks. Lots of gadgetry, but it works great. It also keeps the fuel fillers for both tanks behind the stock filler door.
