Real AIRCAR Thread

OK, since my injector issues, I'm starting to see what is already in my fuel.

I spoke with a local distributor (HHO and diesel) at a BP station. They additize their fuel with "Petroleum Products' Company" EC-1, which he said that is the same as the "Winter Flow" additive. The additive is made by Octel Starreon and injected at the rack... he also has the bottles of "Winter Flow" on his shelf. He has a product called "Winter Phyrre" added to his HHO.

The one Petro I stopped at uses "Diesel Guard" (which made the fuel purple in color!).

Might be worthwhile to find out just what is being added to your fuel before you buy it... he told me there is no reason to add additional additive to the additized fuel sold at his BP, and that it might actually cause problems. He indicated that if you add anything to additized fuel, that you should go light on the doseage.

I attached some literature on the product the local BP uses...

I'm just raising the awareness... ULSD already has additive in it...

It may or may not have played into my problems, but I find it odd that it didn't help as much as it should have...

There has been some discussion that additives, when combined or overdosed, may actually do more harm than good. Just pointing that out mostly...

I know what you mean .
I've posted that how do we know what in the fuel we get , then adding , most are not chemists , even the chemist can not tell us what is going to happen if they only know 1/2 the info .

I just posted a thread asking this question. Half of my friends say that it is bad to add addatives because the furels already contain them and the other half say you need them for lubricity. Which one is it? I am so confused. I have been running my 06 for 73000 miles without any addatives at all. I just started putting in FPPF RV,SUV fuel addative. Am i doing the right thig. Sorry Steved i don't mean to hijack your post i'm just in desperate help to get this resolved. I don't want to cause any unneccessary damage to my truck. Please help!

I'm erring on the side of no additive unless it gets really cold... I may run Stanadynes lubrication additive in the summer.

Do you get that through a online merchant or can you buy it from a store retailer? I have looked at various places and can't find it. There is a lot of Lucas and Power Service products.

I am erring on the side of additive, I don't know about all the claims the additive makers claim, but I do know my valves rattle a lot less when Stanadynes is in the tank.

OK I have been wondering how we can find out what is being added to our fuel.
I have noticed a big difference in mileage from one station to another. We are paying big bucks for this stuff and should know!!!

I stopped for fuel tonight and asked the guy behind the TRUCKSTOP counter if the fuel was winterized (yes) and with what (didn't know). I think that will be the major hangup right there... most stations are owned by a large company and those people make the decisions and probably rely on the refinery to provide "winterized" fuel.

As for the Stanadyne... I'll be ordering some from a member pretty soon.
