The manual that came with my truck indicates 150,000 miles for the first adjustment but doesn't say anything about an interval after that.
Kinda funny... I called a few places for the hell of it to see about an valve adjustment for my year, 2005... .
1. A diesel shop... . 4 hours ..... $320 plus gasket which is about $80= total 400 plus tax
Gulf Coast Dodge and Jeep... . 3hrs... . $315 plus tax includes gasket
Hill Kelly Dodge..... 2 1/2 hrs... . 250 plus gasket which is over 100 cause it has wires in it, plus tax.
Cant imagine that it takes 3-4 hours to unhook a battery, remove 6-8 bolts, wiggle a few valve, bar engine over if needed, adjust 3 sets, bar engine over again, adjust 3 sets and put the valve cover back on (gasket is reusable) and hook up battery's... ... . screw them, I bought the barring over tool (40bucks) from Genos and since I have the service manual, I'm going to be a valve adjustment expert. Only other thing I dont have is a torque wrench which I will soon!! It may take me 2 hours but I'm worth 250 bucks and I wont charge my self and environmental fee either!!

I need to look it up but I can remember the service manual saying there isnt a set mileage to do a valve adjustment. It should be done only if there is a performance issue. If I get time I will try to find it. I had 224,000 miles on my engine and the valve cover had never been off, all the valves were within spec.
