Competition Difference between a HT3B and HT4B

Competition Paging CumminFast

1st Sorry this is kinda off topic. Should we start a different thread?

BRANDON, We have a few different (new this year) Turbine wheels and Exhaust housings that we can use depending on your needs. In Very General terms for Sled Pulling and some Drag racing we now offer Bigger Turbine wheels and Exhaust housings that will mate to the B-1's bearing housings. The end result is lower Drive pressures at higher HP levels. Most of them still use the same B-1 Compressor wheel and Cover combination. Although we now have a few different B-1 Compressors that are used in specific applications like the Towing Rig that spends most of its time draggin a trailer around maybe in the mountains. And one for the KSB-1B-03 Turbo that is a direct drop in for the 2003/04 trucks. There is also the (censored) (B-1 Bomber turbo variant) that I won't say much about other than I think it will be the upper size limit of the B-1 Turbo line.

We are still looking for ways to improve any of the turbos. I am currently testing a variation of the Standard B-1 Housing that spools almost as fast as the "KwikSpool" B-1 Housing ... . But is 14% larger in Volume... ... . (14% difference is like switching from a 14cm2 housing to a 12cm2 on a HX35 when comparing Low end Lag. )

I kinda screwed up the housing during my mods but it shows enough increase in low end performance that I may blow another $500 for another one and let a professional machinest build in my mods. I hope to get this one down to low elevation and see how it compares to a Std B-1 housing at the higher boost levels before spending more $$$ in that direction.

It keeps delaying my KSB-1B-Ex4 / B-2 KwikKurt Kompounds:rolleyes::D that I have been trying to get out of my head and into my truck. I currently am using the B-2 on my front counter as a place to stick post-it Notes and phone messages so that it reminds me my Injectors will be here soon.

I am Having Way to Much FUN!!!! :D :D

yes curt you are off topic I merely just asked who and what trucks are using kurt twins for truck pulls... I dont want to pry any perfomance info, just want to know what pullers and trucks.

basically most of the time im running 1800-2300 rpm depending on the gear and hill. Bottom line is the b1 does fine if i grab a lower gear and twist the crap out of it, but who the heck wants to listen to the thing crank 27-2800 rpm for 15- 20 min at a time (Pulling the grapevine here in CA) Besides they seem to pull better in the 18-2300 rpm range. If i keep the rpms in that range with the B1 I just cant keep the boost up and egt's go through the roof quick. Keep in mind i tow heavy

Sparky--

FYI-- the F1 diesel injectors ARE DON M injectors. One and the same. So, I guess EVERY truck that has one has tested the other.

Thanks for the B-1 updates. It's nice to hear from the Sicko himself... .

Now I understand. . I thought you were climbing up a real hill :)

Sounds like you would like a KwikSpool Housing. It is around 13-14% smaller. Most people see 2-4 more boost at light cruise and 200-300 rpm earlier response. My favorite Rpm when towing is 1800-2400 with 12V's and 2,000-2500 with the properly valved CTD's.

Kurt

Brandon, I haven't kept track of the Compound Twin Pullers and if they are using any of the "SP" Wheels and housings on their secondary (B-1) Turbo especially because they are not as critical in the twin setups since the (B-2, Big Brother,Ht3B's) Big Turbo is going to be doing its job and the excess exhaust heat and pressure should be wastegated completely around the primary anyway. For the Cmpd Twins that are pushing the upper limits the standard B-1 is fine with the proper Big Turbo.

As for the Single Turbo trucks. The "SP" Wheels and Turbine housings have been available for only part of this year. Most of the time these specific turbo mods will be the best choice is when your are wanting everything you can get from a single charger like in street class Sled Pulling event that restrict you from Twins and/or oversize singles like a HT3B with a small turbo foot welded on so it will even bolt up.

We have sold complete B-1 "SP" Turbos and Upgraded a few existing B-1's. Some of these are SledPullers that read and post on TDR... If they want to speak up ... ... :) IF not ;)... ... . I do know that the first ones we did this summer did not change back and last I heard are still happy. If someone does not get the Performance results I tell them they can expect I will buy and or Change it back. Thanks Kurt

That was just an example. mostly i tow the questa grade on my way to pismo that hill is a b***h. Or the twain harte grade. If you want a real winner try the sonora pass:p Bottom line is I have not found a hill that with my trailer i couldn't climb better with the 35 on compared to my standard B1. Empty or lightly loaded is a different story. All kinds of people tell me that it just doesn't make sense, but i would be happy to take anyone for a ride with the same load same hill same day with both turbos and show them the difference.

Sorry to have railroaded this topic with turbo talk, now back to the subject on hand. Sounds like the Mach 3's would be ok to tow with if you watch the pyro. I mean they make the same HP as the supermentals. My understanding is that they would make less smoke than the mentals though. Can anyone confirm this?? Oh heck i probably should just buy some mach 5s and use them for play only. Quit screwing around with these daily driver units;)

Oops sorry last turbo question. Kurt you said that the difference between the B1 I have and the quick spool housing is like 14 %. Kind of like going from a 14 to a 12 cm housing on a 35. If i were to sell my b1 and go with the ks-b1b(I think thats what you said the quickest one is), what kind of a difference am i looking at there. Thanks Phil

Gets my vote. Oo.

At lower elevations, my mach 3's smoke less than my old BD2's.

Rubberneck, Let's try to figure out why you are not getting the normal performance from the B-1. Call me at work and maybe we will find something amiss? Thanks Kurt
