NOOOOOOOOOOOOO stay away from this pump!!! I am sure some people are using it on there "drag Race" only setup. I have been building turbocharged race cars for a few years, and have seen nothing but faliure with these pumps at my shop, I tried to advise my buddy against installing one on his blown/LS1 el-camino, but he did not listen to me... . He has replaced that pump (3) three times in the past year. Summit is good about there warrenty :) Plus if you have ever heard one of these things running... ... They are loud, I mean LOUD. Aeromotive puts out great products, just not the A1000. Consider running a 255lph walbro pump in your tank. There is a place for it inside your sending unit for it. There is a six pin connection wher in only two contacts are used for the fuel level sender that you can use to puwer the pump. I run 3 255 walbro pumps in my tank (one runs all the time for a steady 50gph at 45psi, the other two are on anouther circut that is turned on when my vallet switch is disengaged) 3 of those bad boys will outflow an A1000, and are almost silent :) works well for me, STAY AWAY FROM THE A1000!

AirDog. After 2 years and 140,000 miles of zero issues I highly recommend it.
PM me for dealer contact. Recent $ drop, very competitive now with FASS.

Godspeed,
Trent

I run a A1000 as an aux system and mine is silent or almost so when it's on, don't know why but it is. It moves allot of fuel for it's size and I have had zero issues with it.

PMcBride,

To put a good pump on the factory fuel filter will cause it to work harder because of the restrictions in the fuel filter housing and/or fittings. Another good reason to go with AirDog, and it has a water/fuel separator AND fuel filter which last way longer than the expensive factory fuel filter replacements. As for the fuel heater that is bypassed with the AirDog, I have never needed it even at -0 temps.

Godspeed,
Trent

I suggest the Glacier Diesel GFS-392, it is a Walbro pump and the setup is sweet. Comes with everything up to the factory filter housing and eliminates the banjo fitting on the inlet side. You can add the bigline kit from the filter to the vp44 as well.

I have used the A1000 with excellent results on a 12v..... It does require a regulator and return line to be used. Also the pressure it produces is on the high side for the VP pumps.

If you just want a pump I would look at the FASS HPFP. These are designed to be used with the OEM filter setup and are also diesel compatable.

I've been running an A1000 for awhile now. No problems here. They're only loud if you don't use the little rubber isolators which are sold as a kit from aeromotive. Also they will die if you don't use the correct return regulator (also an A1000) and the recommended size fittings , and power wire. Mines on an '05 with 3/4" fuel line from tank to CP3 with 2 inline filters regulated to the min. of 30psi. and all fittings are -10an except for the cp3. Highly recommended.

dayum saw this after I did my final order. pricewise maybe im better off sourcing those locally. I was reading on the aeromotive site and they suggest some fuel pump ecm for long distance driving. Ive never heard anyone mention it. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=AEI-16302&N=700+115&autoview=sku

That's only for cars with small fuel cells. (i. e. muscle cars) It lowers the voltage to the fuel pump when the pressure isn't needed so it's not returning so much to help keep the fuel cool.

not sure how I missed this the other day, but I put an A1000 on my truck back in '01 --I love this pump flat out--I did replace it because of a loose wire that I mis-diagnosed when I replace it somehow, but the new one has been on for quite sometime also--there's a thread I started back a few hundred years ago---you can peruse the last 2-3 pages maybe more or all of it anyway there's updates as to my A1000 travels in there---

I will tell you this I will never use another pump on my diesel truck I'm an Aeromotive fan all the way--it's not noisy if you use the isolaters like mentioned and you do need the regulator and separate return line, use the right size lines(I'm -08 from pump to filter/regulator/vp)----chris

I have been running an A1000 for over a year with no issues. I used a return style reg and set it at 15psi,works great! Even pumps veg oil NO PROBLEM! I also wouldn't use anything else.

I run that setup on mine as my aux system, pump, regulator! I'm still running the old filter that Haisley put on there aux system way back in the day, but I got a filter housing from them that has 1/2" openings and uses a FS1000 (I think) filter. I have a bracket built and ready to install if I can ever get back home :( to install it.

If anyone wants one bigger they make one with 3/4" openings, bet you could push some fuel through that baby.

Jim

That filter head is from fleetguard and uses 10an in/out, I also have a fs1000 to screw onto it all details worked out thanks to the TDROo.
