I made my own eliminator pipe at work... just used 5. 50" aluminum pipe and turned it down on a lathe until it was 5. 25" (I think that's what it was). With the eliminator pipe and the removal of the silencer ring, and a 5" exhaust straight thru, the turbo is nice and loud... . I like it! But, if the TAG really shows benefits, then I can quiet it down some for performance :)

What I'm working on now is getting either the Scotty III or the Magnum Force PG7 and using two 4" 90 degree rubber elbows from www.turbonetics.com to make a complete intake system. This will get rid of the factory plumbing that goes from 4" to 5. 25" and back to 4" at the turbo inlet. Very easy to make, and should probably get rid of some theoretical screwy airflow... . maybe even get louder ?? :)

AFE has a new product called the Torque tube. It replaces all the plumbing from the air box to the turbo. It maintains a consistent size from one end to the other. The flow bench shows a 200 cfm improvement. If you have a little extra fuel you will love it. I have put these on on mild trucks and with up-graded turbos, they do sound good also.

Also, for those that are running the TAG, how loud/quiet is your turbo compared to a stock 3g without the turbo silencers? I really like my turbo noise!

I am answering this a second time, sorry. Dave at DPP advised me to leave the silencer ring in, there is more discussion on this subject if you go to: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=78832

aFe torque tube

We have the aFe torque tube on back order and have not had a chance to evaluate the TAG installation using the tube. This is a concern because the TAG is secured in the turbo by a molded ridge in the boot connecting to the turbo and I doubt that the Torque tube has this ridge. When we get the tubes we will be evaluating the TAG installation using the tube.

I got my TAG yesterday and installed it in about 10 minutes. It is well made and nothing to install.

I cannot give much of an evaluation, but I drove it 10 miles or so and it definetly spools up faster and is quieter. I will not know much until I tow in April. So far, so good.

Installed my TAG last Friday with AFE magforce and PG7. It made one hell of a difference in my SO. CAR NUTZ can we get a discount for advertising for you????

Car nut 57,I have installed a number of Torque tubes, the bottom connector is smooth,no ribs. If you have any questions about the system feel free to pm me

Bob4x4,

I appreciate the input. We have gotten the torque tubes as well and found that the reason they use the rubber molded elbow to the turbo is the metal tube does not bend fast enough to clear the oil filter. This rubber elbow is smooth inside as you say and does effect our installation of the TAG. We have not come up with an easy way to install a TAG with torque tube yet, but are working on it. We did make one using a piece of 4" exhaust pipe that had a sharp enough bend to allow the metal tube to locate the TAG, but this was only a test.

Any news on the Torque Tube and Tag (TT&T?) project? I'd like a system that incorporates both if it's going to be possible.

TBrennan,

This project has sort of been put on the back burner as we haven't found a means of securing the TAG we are happy with using the aFe parts. So to do it properly a new elbow would need to be designed and manufactured, thus at this time we do not plan to pursue this combination, but will keep looking into it.
