Just went to shop I use and he said his are on order, not in yet. so I have been wanting to get big afe in stead of drop in so I ordered torque tube and afe mega cannon

I have been looking into all sorts of different approaches to this.

There is definately something in that factory set up that works. Some of the folks that have got the Ram Air 3 tried a smooth bore 4" ID replacement and some tried a replacement for that baffle and the reports are loss of some throttle response. I am not saying that this is in fact what is happening with the aFe tube or other products, just what I have gathered for feedback that has baffled me a bit.

I would/could have a custom one piece silicone hose made if there was enough interest. I would like to make sure its not going to give the detrimental results of some folks that have altered the factory hose set up.

I was one of those guys who spent a lot of time making a replacement tube for the factory baffle. Turned out sexy as I could want it to be, but I wasnt impressed with the result other than the sound (sounded like it had more power but didnt)

I got flamed (on another site) for expressing my opinion on what was happening with the air as it passes through the factory set up vs. a smooth bore. Basically I felt that the factory set up causes just enough turbulence to not allow the air to spin with the turbo. I felt that I had lost a slight amount of throttle response and changed my design a bit and got the response back and kept the cool sound that everyone is after with the eliminator tube. Like I said I got flamed for this and was basically called a liar , so take it as you will

I would like to see someone do some legitimate dyno tests to test my theory.

we are not talking major HP difference here, but a difference none the less.

HOLY COW! I don't think a tube and 2 pieces of urethane are worth MSRP of $124. 62. I do like the looks but question the price and the power gain.

XCX, I doubt it. Funny it looks the same as what we give with the turbo kit though. If the stock piece would have fit, we may have stayed with that... but it didn't.

I certainly don't expect any gain with that piece of pipe, at least on a stock turbo'd truck.

I've been looking at the Eliminator Pipe in Geno's catalog and have had a problem with the $50... . that is starting to look like a bargain

I'm pretty sure that you don't want PVC anywhere near a turbo or exhaust manifold. Can you say meltdown... . My father in-law mounted a PVC pipe in the engine bay (for the stinky slinky) on his 8. 3 Cummins motor home. I was following behind and its a good thing we had radios. Black smoke began billowing from the engine bay and was caused by the PVC melting. I thought his rig was going to burn to the ground but we got it in time. The pipe was mounted further away from his turbo and exhaust manifold than what our intakes are on the pickups. You may be alright but I would think twice before doing it.

I did the PVC it works great no heat build up sounds good, but it gets to ya after a long haul. It will cost you aprox $10 to build your own eliminator. Heck the original is a plastic or composite material anyway . 02

Does PVC (at least black) attract heat?

I believe in the notion of air tumbling or spinning ahead of the turbo vs. laminar flow and can see a slight power loss. And the TAG should rectify this.

The fact the intake pipe has to take a sharp 90 deg bend right in front of the turbo inlet is far from ideal. A straight shot for several inches at least is preferable, but the darned oil filter is in the way.

Vaughn I never felt any uncomfortable temps, But I live in a ice box (Alaska) I will know this summer. I also drilled a 3" hole in the front of the air box put in a threaded PVC coupler so I can cap it in case of rain or snow or Carwash. Not to mention a AFE drop in . This is my own version of Ram Air
