Does anyone know of any aftermaket cruise controls designed for the 24 valve Cummins. I didnt order a cruise for my truck and just wondered if I ever wanted to put one on where would I find it? Can you order one from Dodge?

I put an after market CC on a Honda Accord last summer. Doing the install I saw that it would be much easier to do it on a Ram. Paid $79 from JC Whitney,it works great, dealer will charge you at least five times more for a OEM.

I found a web site for them but cant see a cruise control. What would it be under.

Okay i found them there are two. , which one did you get? What made it seem easier to put on the ram? What kind of Ram do you have?

Either the price went up or I was wrong,it's the one for $99,#81JE344U. The reason I thought it would be easier is that our Dodges have a vehicle speed sensor(VSS),Honda has a different system and I had to use magnets on the axle shaft, which on a Honda is a ***** . Also on a Honda with OEM cruise the servo cable is long and goes thru the firewall to the pedal linkage, the JCW cruise had a shorter cable and inorder to find a way to mount it I had to tee into the throttle cable on the throttle body.
On my '95 Cummins the CC actuator is on the firewall with a straight shot to the bell crank on the injection pump which already has a place for a CC cable. The wiring is simple, one wire to the VSS,one each to the brake & clutch switch, then your ground and positive. Also a hose to the vacuum. Only problem on a Dodge may be finding a good place to mount the control switches, dash space is limited,on top of the steering shroud may work.
You may want to consider model # 78JE7724NF for $149,it seems like it is more customized for different applications plus the control is on the turn signal, which is more convenient. My catalog says vehicles to '98 but I'll bet they will have one for a '01,call and ask.

Thanks, Wonder how much different mine will be since I have 2001 and its all electronic. When you say CC actuator you are just sending a wire to this right? Nothing mechanical right. I thought yalls were totaly mechanical so I am just picturing what it is doing if it is only getting an electrical signal. I think I will order it. They have a money back Gaurantee. If anyone thinks this wont work on a 2001 please speak up before I order Thanks!

The CC isn't totally electrical, there is a vacuum hose that operates the actuator which in turn changes the throttle cable position. Let us know how it works for future reference.
