When I bought my ’98 12V 5spd in July it did not have the factory driving lights in the bumper, though I think its wired for them (plug found below the radiator, PDC looks ready for a relay). I’d like to fill those holes with some after-markets and I’m open to either driving lights or fog lights. At the moment, I’m looking at either the PIAA 510s, in either fog or driving, or the Hella DE Xenon fogs (no driving light equivalent in Hella that I’m aware of).

The PIAA 510s are almost too big (4" diameter) but I think I can make them work. I’ve seen the pics of Scotty’s (I believe) "Great White" with his PIAA dual lights, which look great, but for now I’d like to leave the rectangular area open for air flow or other light options.

Has anyone else tackled this issue? Any one tried these lights and care to offer a review? I’ve searched the archives. That helped, but no answers to these questions.

Thanks,
JGK

JGK, I too have the PIAA Dual Sport 900 auxiliary lights like Scott.

The local 4x4 shop has installed several sets of the PIAA 510 series auxiliary lights in the factory fog light position. I know some cutting is involved however, I'm not sure how difficult the installation really is (i. e. , possible custom mounting brackets, additional grinding etc. ). If you go this way, let us know how it goes.

John,

Thanks. Do you by chance have a number for that local shop? I may call them and pick their collective brain.

I've since discoverd CATZ makes one that's a bit smaller and may work. I'm going to try to find one locally for a look-over.

JGK,

I was looking for driving lights this summer.
Another TDR member, Larry Quinn, pointed in
the direction of PIAA 1252's. Fit with no modifying, and they are BRIGHT!! I get people "flashing" their lights at me quite often. Thanks Larry.
