Any simple things I could try to narrow it down?

Switch the RCA jacks around... put the red to the white/white to the red. If the problem stays the same it's the amp. If it switches sides it's the head unit. This assumes you have the amp running ALL speakers. If you have the amp for your subs only then it's for sure the head unit.

sound like you blew a channel on th output of the after market radio, try hooking it up outside of teh truck

One thing to remember when using stock Infinity speakers and the new high power after market heads is that it could be possible to burn up a head unit output and/or speaker amp when wiring them all together. This is part of the reason the head has RCA jacks. You are not supposed to amplify an already amplified signal. The proper way to do this would be to wire everything up just as you would w/o the Infinity and then remove each speaker and by-pass the amp. Of course if your going to remove the speakers any way you could throw in some nice aftermarkets and really get your moneys worth out of that high power head unit...

I got better front speakers (boston Acoustics) and hooked the 2 wires that went to the stock speakers and hooked them to the new ones. The amp was bolted to the old speakers so I just wire-tied the amp on a door frame piece. The radio sounds good

Thanks MrDiesel. I will try that today. I have all the speakers going throught the amp.

I switched RCA cables like you said and it switched sides. Looks like the headunit is bad.

Thanks again.

Don't forget the Infinity has it own amp in the front door speakers. They have to be powerd up for it to work.

I put new speakers in mine and run new wire to everything.

Sure sounds better than factory.

My dads truck does a similar thing. We put a pioneer radio in a 96 w/ infinity. Worked fine. He did not like the small volume buttons so we bought a new and better grade pioneer head unit. Now, the front speakers work awsome, the rears put out hardly any sound. Everything has been double checked and hooked up right. Its really annoying, as the rear speakers are putting out almost no sound- any ideas?

HELLO. .

I have a 98 Dodge Ram with the Infinity system,,of course the front speakers are blown.

I bought a set of INFINITY speakers but they were 4 Pin connectors an mine are 6 Pin.

Any one got any ideas on how to convert?

I had some OLD speaker an tried to jump the contacts to see if I could get to work,,but three differant wires gave me SOUND!!... Just wondering if one pin or color wire is best for hooking up to after market speakers??

THANKS

Mike
