You’re missing the fact that Greg said others have been able to do the work without any crossmember interference. I believed what I read rather than investigating myself and lifted the trans without questioning why on my 1st filter change. After that I looked things over and realized it wasn’t necessary. Last 2 changes lying on my back in my driveway no jacking or crossmember interference. 1/4 drive, 10mil socket, 6, maybe 8 inch extension. Large diameter bucket.

I start them all by hand with the socket and extension.
Just a side bar. The factory pan gasket can be a pain to keep aligned. I don’t know your opinion on aftermarket filters but the last filter I bought was from RockAuto. It was the ATP brand . I researched the company and found they manufacture here in the U.S. and they are an OEM supplier to most all the major car companies in the Country. The filter and gasket are 1/3 the cost of the Mopar filter alone. Then add another $20 for the gasket. The reason I’m mentioning all this is the ATP gasket has reduced size corner holes that allow you to hold the gasket in place on the pan. It makes pan installation much easier. The alternative is a little permatex high tack on the gasket.
Just a little food for thought.

The LocTite Spray Adhesive works great for me.....I used it several filter changes on my 2014 RAM 3500 and on the 2018 RAM 4500.

It’s just tacky enough for installation purposes, but not too sticky to prevent reusing the gasket several more times, either.

Just changed the oil and filters and installed a Mag Hytec pan. Went to home depot and bought a plastic mud pan for concrete mixing and used it as a drain pan which can get messy. Had to loosen a cooler line to install the new pan. Wasn't a hard job and I am 70 yrs old. Trans is the 68RFE

Did you buy the kit from Genos with the sump filter? And I am sure you got their gasket as well? I can't believe the 68RFE did not come with a drain plug? Let a lone having to use RTV as a gasket. Oh well.
