Aftermarket turbo?

I've been looking at turbos for my truck. Most of the information on sizing of the exhaust and compressor housings is geared more toward a HO motor. I don,t want drivibility problems from a oversized turbo. My engine doesnt make much more horsepower stock than 2nd gen 24 valves. But the commen rail turbos seem to be bigger from the aftermaket. I feel like the SO guys are left out. help me make a informed decision thanks.

Any of the s300 based turbo's work well. I hear the common rail engines are a little better at spooling the bigger turbo's than the mechanical pump engines so I wouldn't be affraid of going with a little bigger housing for better breathing. Your best bet is to decide what you want out of the truck then call I. I. or HTT for info on what to get.

The sps 62 from Industrial Injection or a Super Stock 62 from High Tech would be great for your application. The 3rd gens get them spinning quick & they will give you cool egts too. I wouldn't go any bigger than a 62 compressor if you want no problems with driveability..... I know from experience & 4 different turbos before finding the best for driveability & low egts.

If you want super fast spool just get a phat shaft 62 or htt htb2.

These turbos are great for fast initial spoolup..... they start to spool about 150-200 rpm quicker than the sps62 or ss62. The sps62 or ss62 will get you to peak boost faster... . from 10psi to peak boost the supers are lightening. The 3rd gens stock can get a super turbo to spoolup fast anyways... . I would get a super, but thats just my $. 02.
