If I am not mistaken, that looks like a TST boost fooler on the wastegate hose. I was looking over my truck this morning after reading the tech article in the Issue 43 about the metal line cracking from the turbo to the AFC housing. I was looking for mine and noticed there wasn't one. The line from the turbo outlet goes straight to the WG, no "T. " I thought every 5-spd 94-98 was supposed to have one. Turns out my AFC gets its boost feed from the intake. Maybe my truck was retrofitted. Is that where the auto trucks run from? Was that a TSB or something?

So, now that I have seen a boost fitting on the turbo I am wondering if someone put a plate in it at some point. Do the TST plates come numbered so if I pulled it out it could be identified?

A few more gallery pics of the fitting and the AFC feed line:

The older manuals had a pressure tube from the afc to the turbo, that is what you put the elbow into. sometimes these tubes crack and leak...

Yeah, my truck is an older manual so it should have the metal line from the turbo to the AFC, but it doesn't. No biggie, just interesting that mine has been modded that way. The boost elbow was a suprise too! The more I look at this truck, the more mods I find.

I just put the TST power kit in my 96 auto last night. Your pic is identical to what mine looks like after I installed the kit. I had to put the boost fooler down by the turbo. It states in the directions that the boost fooler will go up by the afc housing on some trucks and down by the turbo on others. Not to sure what models went where. The plate I put in had a # 6 stamped on it. The stock plate had some rivets and a 4 numbers stamped on it(maybe a part #). My boost went from 19 psi to 30 psi.

Thanks guys! I'm gonna have to pull the AFC off and check the plate. I need to pull an injector too just to see what I am working with for sure. I'll be towing 8000lbs this weekend up some serious grades. I'll have to watch the gauges carefully to see how it performs.
