Got my last oil sample back and the Silicon was alittle higher than my liking. I have had a Scotty II with what ever brand filter they supply with it, for about 3 years and never had silicon reading over 5. Last sample was 10, on oil with only 5k miles on it. I checked other areas where I thought dirt my bypass the airfilter and could not find any obvious paths.
Are there any, higher effiecientcy filters out there for the ScottyII system other than the supplied one (which I think is a K&N). Also any one have any idea why silicon would double from last sample (which was 5 with 20k on the oil, which was changed after that sample)
Fleetgaurd fullflow Stratopore is changed every 5k, Amsoil by pass every 10K and I live in a less "dusty" area than I did when the reading was 5.
I kind of thought about maybe it being from the engine casting process, but figured it would be out of the engine etc over the last 70K miles.
Any ideas/suggestions/advice etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
