Hey Larry,

Did you see that twin turbo truck at the TDR Rally in Columbus? The inside of his cab was just as impressive. Talk about spending big bucks... ...

He's out of my league!!!

What happens under the hood when it rains ?, or you drive over water on the road ?. I doubt that a K&N can keep water out of the turbo if you mount it in such a manner. If coated with enough water, it will pull water through. RonL

I have been through lots of water and snow and I have not gotten that filter wet... the filter sitting up where the air box was is pretty darn safe. The only concern I have had is that poorly installed piece of weather-stripping that seals the hood by the bottom of the windshield. It can come loose and then you got moisture... I just reglued it with Contact Cement. I was worried about the filter being soaked during the first heavy rain storm I drove through... as soon as I got home I took the filter into the house... and it was bone dry.

Scott1, Thanks for the info. I've seen your setup and it looks well thought out. I was really refering to mounting the cone shaped K&N directly on the turbo intake. I think that may be a bad idea in wet areas. RonL

My filter minder never moved and the filter was dirty. I installed the TST power kit with the old filter and the minder almost bottomed out. I get 34psi boost compared to the 18psi factory. I think the engine does not use much air at factory settings that is why you do not see the indicator move.

And, I only gots 198 on the y2k I picked up Thursday and the filter minder was at 100%. Since then the minder is now reading 65% and I reset it to verify it was correct. Drove about 35 mi and it was back at 65%, mine must be working for all the others that ain't. 200 mi and 65%, might make it to 2k mi if lucky and if not I guess I'll be changing it every 500mi!!! Just my . 02 worth.

Ron, I thought maybe that was what you where referring too but posted my findings on my version as well. I just don't see enough room ahead of the turbo for a filter. If I found a filter to fit I'd be lifting that hood a lot to see if there is moisture... I will probably wear out the hinges on this hood... HEHEH.
