Air inlet tube

Does anyone make an aftermarket air inlet tube (between the turbo and air box) that eliminates that odd baffle with the foam outer wrap? I am concerned the foam will disintegrate and enter the turbo and engine. The baffle is obviously for silencing and I would like to also hear the turbo sing.

Marion Blair, who I think is member TooTall on here, has a youtube video testing the effect of that component. His conclusion was that it improves performance, and you can run it without the foam.

k and n makes a different smooth air inlet piece. not sure if you can buy just that alone, however. you might have to buy a "air intake kit " and dont use the k and n filter. you will get quite the education from members here if you inquire about that particular filter. cheers!

Just contacted K&N and they only sell a complete "kit". I do not want their air filter or air box, just the pipe. I wonder if I can tell them I have their kit but need to replace the pipe?

I have been on several RAM / Cummins forums over the years, and I have NEVER heard of this foam being ingested into the engine or turbo......

have a buddy who put the airraid throttle body spacers on a few of his vehicles....he wasnt impressed, but in my opinion, a smoother air inlet vs the factory one is a no brainer. cheers!

I removed mine 2 few months back. I cant hear the turbo and it does not seem to help performance IMHO.

I just ordered it. I will let yall know what I think of it when I get it installed. Will be pulling my fiver to the mountains Memorial weekend and hope it will sing a little! ;-)

Sorry for the delay. It makes the turbo whistle a little louder and clearly is more free flowing because it has no obstructions. It also has more "rumble" when the exhaust brake comes on. I like the thing!
