The big question is did the service interval change to eliminate the 30k fluid change? That's what my dealer told me when he looked up mine on the computer. Has anyone here have access to the latest Ram service data?

Per my '21 operators manual, the service interval is still 30k, with no reference, to how the truck is used.

PS: Maybe the dealer looked at the 68 rfe, it gets 60k changes.

He supposedly used my vin for the service data ,so who knows, I'll just change it. ( The '21 operators manual was probably printed in 19-20, so maybe there was an update since then) See the attached for the FCA data website he used.

That's the gas engine maintenance. Even thou your VIN was used they still need to select the correct engine.

If you go to the ram trucks website you will be able to see the maintenance schedule. It still shows the 30K service and 60K filter for the AS69RC.

OK thanks

Just an older spec. It could be as simple as a supplier change or a fluid spec change.

Pricey, only $1 less a quart that what I pay for the Amsoil ATF I put in mine.
Actually.....the only thing that changed was the label on the bottle.

Before the AS69RC came out, the fluid was denoted as AS68RC fluid. With the introduction of the AS69RC transmission, I guess FCA could see confusion in the future and simply changed the fluid to ASRC fluid so everyone one know that it would work with both the AS68RC and AS69RC transmissions simultaneously.

Here’s a pic of the old fluid

following the asterisk, the note says to change the axles oils at 20K miles if used for towing!

Friends,

Although I try to follow the recommended fluid/filter changes, I've gone over a few times. Real bone headed one was on my 2009 Ram 4500, I completely missed the 30K mile fluid change on the Aisin... it was time for the 60K mile service I figured out what I had done. Had the dealer do the 60K and asked them to look extra close at the condition of the fluid, the filter, and if there was metal in the pan. All checked good. I guess I lucked out, although it's been mentioned before here that folks thought the Aisin might could go longer between fluid changes. And I checked the fluid levels each month, fluid always nice shade of red. Old days, it was a bad sign when red fluid was brown and smelt burnt. Haven't had that experience on any of my vehicles.

On that truck and on this one, I did change axle fluid at 20K mile mark. Fluid didn't look that bad on either one, and both trucks primary and almost only use was pulling heavy trailers. I guess, for the most part, none of the fluids I've ever changed looked particularly bad. And from the days I was doing extend oil drains with Amsoil bypass filter system, I never judged the oil on the appearance, but on the results of the oil analysis.

For all this rant, just saying not doing any extended drains (on purpose) on anything and more or less, that I haven't really been able to assess the quality or wear of the fluids I'm changing.

Cheers, Ron

I also recommend changing the rear axle (or both if you frequently use 4WD) at 20K miles if you tow anything! The rear ends don't hold much oil and there's a lot of heat generated there. I am using Valvoline 75W-90 Full synthetic gear lube as its much cheaper and meets the Chrysler spec for the rear end. I also added the Mag-Hytec rear axle cover that increases oil capacity to 7-8 quarts.
