While I am not Rob I you are correct. However it sort of depends on what is repaired and when and under which warranty. IF something happens to the drivetrain that is covered under the original 100k mfr warranty that does not go against the Maxcare. Maxcare picks up the drivetrain on anything over the 100k to whatever years/mileage you have purchased (which on a diesel the max coverage is 8yrs 125k miles but there are several options less than that). If you need a repair on something other than drivetrain that is under the mfr 3/36k warranty then Maxcare does not get dinged until the 3 or 36 has passed. However once passed the 3 or 36k Maxcare takes over. The Maxcare is essentially a bumper to bumper warranty (it does not cover wear items, ie batteries, brake pads, tires etc but pretty much everything else for the time period and miles you purchase.
The warranty reimbursement if not used does cost more than one without that option.
It is as like someone stated previously like insurance dang glad you have it if you need it not so much if you don't. You just have to weigh your risk and decide if it is worth it whether you need it not. In your example certainly wouldn't be worth it. However if a previous poster is correct that the 12 inch screen is 11k to replace and you had to then you would certainly make out on that one assuming it happened after the original 3/36 warranty. Not hard to have a 3k repair bill on these trucks question is are you going to have one and that answer is some do and some don't.
My brother has a Jeep Rubicon nice vehicle lifted, fox shocks , winch etc from the factory. When he purchased it it came with a Maxcare lifetime warranty as part of his purchase deal, this was several years ago when auto sales were struggling. Lasts as long as he owns the vehicle. They no longer sell the lifetime warranties and never did for diesels.
