While I am not Rob I you are correct. However it sort of depends on what is repaired and when and under which warranty. IF something happens to the drivetrain that is covered under the original 100k mfr warranty that does not go against the Maxcare. Maxcare picks up the drivetrain on anything over the 100k to whatever years/mileage you have purchased (which on a diesel the max coverage is 8yrs 125k miles but there are several options less than that). If you need a repair on something other than drivetrain that is under the mfr 3/36k warranty then Maxcare does not get dinged until the 3 or 36 has passed. However once passed the 3 or 36k Maxcare takes over. The Maxcare is essentially a bumper to bumper warranty (it does not cover wear items, ie batteries, brake pads, tires etc but pretty much everything else for the time period and miles you purchase.
The warranty reimbursement if not used does cost more than one without that option.

It is as like someone stated previously like insurance dang glad you have it if you need it not so much if you don't. You just have to weigh your risk and decide if it is worth it whether you need it not. In your example certainly wouldn't be worth it. However if a previous poster is correct that the 12 inch screen is 11k to replace and you had to then you would certainly make out on that one assuming it happened after the original 3/36 warranty. Not hard to have a 3k repair bill on these trucks question is are you going to have one and that answer is some do and some don't.

My brother has a Jeep Rubicon nice vehicle lifted, fox shocks , winch etc from the factory. When he purchased it it came with a Maxcare lifetime warranty as part of his purchase deal, this was several years ago when auto sales were struggling. Lasts as long as he owns the vehicle. They no longer sell the lifetime warranties and never did for diesels.

yep... FWIH Turbo actuators are about 4k so if one goes out after the warranty expires its paid for in that one repair... I had a maxcare on my 04 and it paid for itself when the driver seat assy and the turbo were replaced... parts cost was about 2200$ and it cost me $100 (warranty back then cost me $1600) so from then on it was gravy for the front axle shaft, drive line, window master sw... If only those darn blend doors would've gone out under warranty :rolleyes:.... but then they would've just broke again so I am glad I went with the steel ones.

So if I got this right ,say you only spent $500 on repairs during the warranty , so when the warranty is up it cost you $2600 to get $500 in coverage. I am assuming like you said its refunded only if you have not used it.
Correct, if you use it for any reason you dont get any $ back. That's how I understand it anyway.

I have the 8y/125k max care, bought in Dec for ~2600 also but I have a $200 deductible... but if I need to do something big it'll totally be worth it. I weighed the options but I think it was around 4k for the 0 deductible and I hope not to have it in the shop 8 times for big repairs... but if so I'll be even money

I was told that 12" display is 11k to replace,, and I am sure the active headlamps are not cheap. enough electrical stuff to justify it especially considering how good the elec system was on my 04:rolleyes:
The display is $1080.00

hahaha... Typical F&I guy he added a zero to upsell their inhouse warranty.. I still bought the MaxCare (not their offering) mostly because it took care of me last time and its terrific piece of mind.

I keep hearing this 4K actuator repair, had mine go out last April , was replaced at a dealership in Flagstaff ,Az ,total was if I remember right at $2100 ,and change. As said in a previous post , so far my gamble has paid off  If I can make it to March. We bought the extended warranty on our 2013 Ford Escape , we used it one time , and was lucky, it was on the last day of the warranty. It covered , which was very minimal ,some reflash on the back-up camera ,it was not working right . No parts , or tear down. So on that vehicle we lost a bunch on that warranty .

As we all know those warranties ,insurance if you will, are not setup to lose money. We are the ones that lose . If you are after peace of mind, I suppose those warranties are great, never gave it much thought, I guess I just like to gamble. :D

Max care on our eco diesel easily shielded me from over 7500 in repair cost plus hotels food rental car. It was a line in the sand for our 18 ctd.
It's so important to me that this truck is history once it hits 8 yrs or 125k. Too bad we can't buy more coverage after that point. I would never buy anything but factory max care. All the other plans are weak on emissions and turbo coverage.

FYI, the Actuator extended warranty was pushed back to Jan 2022 this week. It was set to go live yesterday but when I checked it today the release date has been changed.

yeah, no argument there,

I at this point in my life don't wish to work on my truck beyond maintenance and common wear items, so for me the MaxCare is a no brainer.. It paid for itself on the 04, wish I'd had it on the 12' and if I need it on the 20' it'll pay for itself first time.. Heck I had front AAM u joints replaced under MaxCare on my 04, the cost of the u joints in the axles was less than my deductible for parts cost, but not having to pull rusty unit bearings and deal with it at all was totally worth it.:D

$304 for a certified Cummins reman. That was an everyday ordinary price when I got mine.

I thought I saw where if you have the time , there’s a vendor that’s about $500 if you send them yours to have rebuilt , and its plug and play .
