I'm quite disappointed that they don't offer the Aisin in the 2500. It was one of the bummer moments when I was looking for a diesel rig. I just don't like the 68RFE, but I don't need a 3500.

I'm holding on selling my other truck to see what RAM has to offer in a few years, because I might keep my EcoD... and have two diesel rigs in my house.

My best guess is Allison coming down the pipeline one of these years...

Realistically, even with the suspension differences, the 2500 and 3500 are too similar to discount a 3500 just because it’s a 3500. If you want the he Aisin get an Aisin.

No, 150 was always overtorqued. Just because you didn’t have any issues doesn’t mean it was right.

One of the most ignorant phrases is “I’ve always done it that way”. Ok.. so you’ve always done it wrong, that doesn’t make it correct even if it hasn’t failed on you.

Maybe you can show me the 2011 DRW manual? I am not an "always done it that way" guy. There was a reason I used 150 years ago, not able to remember why.

My current 2015 manual says 140# and there is NO WAY I stretched the bolts by going 10# more plain and simple.

Well, my memory was bad on the 03-12 lug nut torque. 145 cone and 155 flanged. Apologies.

On the 2015 150# isn’t 10# over torqued, it’s 21# over torqued (16%) and why there was a recall. 140# was causing issues, so 150# would also cause issues.

Thanks, now you see why I “ASSUMED” it was 150.
Per my owners manual it’s 140. Yes they have changed that.

Wouldn't be a big deal to make these bolts to hold 250lbs, yes 250, no problem.
It is a joke to have a bolt that stretches so easy - and breaks - just slightly over torqued. There has to be a built in safety margin. Right now it's just bad engineering- lowering the torque instead of putting proper bolts on.

Agreed. They are only 14mm or slightly less than 9/16". They should be 5/8" like before.

It has mostly nothing to do with the TQ and more to do with the quality of the bolt. I guarantee the replacement bolt is NOT the same as OE.

John just stated my 11 DRW had the same size studs. My 150# was fine then, what changed???

That's what I meant, a 9/16 could easily hold 250+ if manufactured in good quality.
Now we are in the quality range of Toyota Wheel studs, chewing gum, it's a shame.

Daughter drives our 97 4-runner bought new, pushing 300,000 miles and we bought another 97 a few years ago for an off road desert rig, close to 200,000 on that one, neither transmission ever had anything but fluid/filter changes. I asked one of the Toyota mechanics once how often they saw problems on their Aisin transmissions. He said almost never. Different from an HD truck for sure, but I towed my fishing boat with the 1st one for many years, Aisin seems like a very robust brand near as I can tell.
Yeah, you never hear about Toyota's autos messing up.

The latest ones in the Landcruiser had lots of problems in Europe, life long Toyota Fans stopped buying them because of that.
