Well I purchased the 2019 with the Aisin and 4:10 gears and love it!

Not when driving down the Freeway, locked is locked. I already acknowledged mileage is better with TH off in city/mixed driving.

My point is a 10k DRW 4x4 AISIN truck with 4.10's is NOT going to get 18+mpg at 70-75mph, makes no difference TH or not.

I don't care that I don't get that much, reality is reality.

I am willing to put my money with my mouth is on this one.

I wish my 15 DRW had 3.42's then maybe I would get 18+ mpg at 70-75 like these guys claim they are getting with their 4.10's. :cool:

I have yet to see anybody quote 18+mpg. I never broke that threshold. Never claimed it. No need for any drama. :rolleyes:

My typical mileage is around 16 mixed driving empty. How is it so hard to believe I get 1-2mpg better when strictly highway driving empty? :confused:

Believe what you want. I’m just some random dude on the internet..... ;)

So what would your guys trucks get hand calc Sea Level flat ground no wind on a 300 mile trip with no stops with cruise set to 70?

I would not get over 16.

I'd be ± 20, but that's SRW and 3.42's :p

Truly flat and no wind I'd probably be closer to 21, but those are road conditions I've never seen.

60 = 21.5 Estimate
70 = 20 Estimate
75 = 19.5 documented Phoenix to Palm Springs last Dec
78-80 = 19 documented Palm Springs to Phoenix last Dec

My mixed mileage is in the 16-17 MPG range. I seldom use TH when not towing BTW.

Right out of the box from Greeley, Co to NW Washington when we drove the new truck home mileage was only slightly lower.

Now for another surprise, towing the 16K 5th wheel to Arizona for Washington vs tow the 8K TT produced similar mileage on similar inland routes. In both cases it was towing a 60 MPH in 5th gear.

DEF usage was higher with the 16K trailer however, which is hard to explain, given the fuel used was similar?

With the 5th wheel, I would added a 2.5 gal box half way on the trip and the the TT I made it all the way without get to 1/2 on the gauge, which is when I add another box.

Maybe Mr DEF can explain how that occurred.

I have seen 21 hand calculated , its rare, but not a steady 70 mph, and not those road conditions either, pretty hard to come by here in the mountain west .:rolleyes:

I bought my truck upstate New York and drove it home approximately 300 miles, SRW Aisin with 3.42 and saw 23.7mpg on the lie o meter when I got down to Long Island. Don’t know if that’s 100% accurate, but must be pretty close. Cruise was at 72 most of the way. I was thoroughly impressed, truck has 16k miles and bone stock everything.

Love my Aisin. Haven’t towed heavy with it, but it’s always in the right gear and love the extra deep low first gear. Coming from an 01 24v, the transmission seems to have more of a direct drive feeling.

I drove a 18 68rfe truck and that thing just felt like it lugged the engine down combined with a slush box of a transmission.

Just my .02.

I’ll buy lunch if that figure isn’t more than 10% optimistic. Probably 15%. As a point of reference, Exeter to Bangor and back,350 miles each way, at least a dozen times. Never better than 18. 3 mpg , cruise set at 70mph. SRW, Aisin.
I will say I get slightly better mileage with the cruise off. Very slightly.

Every truck is different, thou they shouldn’t be, but mine averages 7.1% off. Best of 0.57% high, and a worst of 11.7% high. Only 3 of them above 10%. No rhyme or reason for the error thou. Back to back tanks will vary with similar conditions and miles.

Mine EVIC is almost always 1 to 1.5 optimistic, then once in a while towing it is almost spot on. Always fill the tank that same. Go figure.

Right after buying my '18 I started a log. I kept track of all miles and every drop used for over 6000 miles. Using that data, I ciphered that the EVIC value was right at 3.0 mpg high vs hand calculated. Now I dont need to hand calculate anymore as I just subtract 3.0 from the reading, and know that value is very very close to the actual number in the type of driving that I do. My $0.02.

I actually took a picture of the MPG calculator on the truck because I couldn’t believe how well the truck was doing on fuel.

First picture was 45 minutes before the second to prove I had the cruise set at 69 at that point.

Next time I do a trip with the truck, I will do hand calcs as well.
