Is there an easy way to tell if a truck has the Aisin by looking a picture of the engine compartment?
I have been browsing for a 2015 3500 and they only say automatic or manual.
Aisin dip stick is on drivers size. 68RFE is on Passengers side.

I remember when posting about my new 11 HO Dually towing 28K with 3.42's you would have thought the sky was falling on this forum! It towed GREAT!!! Starting on a grade was not so good but the AISIN with it's lower starting gears has resolved that issue.
Can anyone with an Aisin trans and
4.10 gears in. Late model ram tell me how many rpm's at 70 mph and how many rpm's at 80 mph . Getting ready to order a 2018 , usually tow at about 70 , speed limit on interstate is 80 . If anyone has above setup please tell me how many rpm you turn at above speeds . Thanks in advance .
I am also considering a new truck but I want to stick with the 6 speed manual transmission. I love my current truck so much that I will probably not get rid of it and am certainly hanging on to the ole 1996. Hauled a steer to slaughter this morning with my gooseneck livestock trailer. It is handy to have multiple trucks for multiple purposes. The 1996 does great duty as a farm truck.
The 2003 has 3.73 gears and that seems perfect with the 6 speed manual. The 1996 has 4.10s and will pull a dang house off its foundation at idle in first gear, but it screams going down the road at 65-70mph. I love the low gear for easing around the farm though and cant beat it for backing trailers.
is your '96 5 speed? Or 6 speed?
Sounds like a nice truck. New Venture transmission?
The finned aluminum rear differential cover was used on all ratios (3.42, 3.73, and 4.10) on RAM 3500 DRW CTD/AISIN trucks beginning in the 2013 model year.I just picked up our 1st Dodge pickup - a 2017 3500 Limited DRW with Aisin and 3.73 last week. I think Ram has just added the ventilated diff cover to the 3.73.
