So Alfa OBD II app seems to be the go to tool for "things" on our RAM trucks. I thought we should have a thread for input from users that documents things that you can do with it. If you used it to say lower the 2500 tire pressure nanny, maybe you could post details in this thread. I personally would like to have my exhaust brake on at start up on my 3500. Is it doable? Have at it guys. TIA

I have not seen anything that leads me to believe you can change the E-Brake setting.

I used it to adjust my tire pressure thresholds, adjust tire size and allow Fog Light to be used when using the Brights.

So far I have

Enabled DRL's
Enabled DRL user menu on 8.4
Enabled fog's with highbeams
Enabled trailer naming on 8.4
Global down, thou I haven't used it
Increased headlight voltage on dad's '17 to match my '18.

What I have wanted to do but been unable

Increase fuel tank size
Activate compass on 8.4

The exhaust brake is part of the ECM so we can't adjust that with AlfaOBD

I have a 3500 so I haven't messed with TPMS settings.

I have done a ton of stuff with it. There is a huge thread on another Ram forum that details everything people have been able to do. Not trying to pimp that site but honestly its a huge resource and would be hard to re-create elsewhere.

And No, you cannot change the exhaust brake settings with Alfa. Requires a tuner that can alter the ECM (which alfa does not do)

Brights with fogs I would like that. I just bought wiring adapter for my Harley to do the same.

Just be aware, it only enables the "ability" to have them on with the brights. You still have to manually turn them on every time, they don't come on automatically with the brights.

I turned on global down, and turned off the horn beep when locking the truck with fob.

Global down rolls down the front windows if you press & hold the unlock button after unlocking with the fob. Nice option for hot summers.

Don't plan on installing the high idle out I bought because I can do it with my phone and alfaobd.

However, I think the problems I had getting my phone to connect has to do with the virus security application that is always running and being careful what my Bluetooth and wifi my phone connects to.

Am I correct that third party OBD readers/software, like AlfaOBD, are blocked on 2018 and later model years?

Thanks! This planned addition to my Ram inventory has quickly zoomed above my paygrade. Dongle, confusing (to me) AlfaOBD website, no iPhone app, etc. Guess I'll just have to get used to the low tire pressure light!

Thanks MtnRider. Looks like these bypass cables will give the user a second OBD port, at least the second website says that. Since my original factory port is now occupied full time with the plug for my electric side steps, would that still be functional for my steps after the bypass is installed? (I should probably be asking the bypass provider!) Perhaps most importantly to me, is there any way to get the AlfaOBD to work with an iPhone?

This is something I am curious about as well. Does the OBD dongle for Alpha have to stay in all the time or can I remove it? I have a switch connected to my OBD right now and running a bypass or splitter has always caused issues with it.

Nope, just needs to be there to make the change then you remove it. It's not really a "dongle", just a bypass cable.
