New Trailer

If you are refering to the Skyline/Aljo-Aly brand, all I can say is I hope there has been a lot of quality improvement since 1982.

Mine (33' bumper pull) had a bunch of problems. As I pulled it from the lot I noticed it pulled 2'+ out of line. Stupid me did not hit the next exit and take it back to Thompson Trailer Sales in Houston TX. A week or so later, after going over it I took it back to get the troubles ironed out. They said too bad so sad, we no longer carry that brand so take it somewhere else if another dealer picks up the line. The shackles were welded 1 1/2" further back on one side.

The skin on the side had ridges about 3/4" deep. The windows had 1/4" gaskets. The water and critters marched through without breaking stride. I got rot and mold as a result.

When I pulled the tanks (I was living in it) the skin looked as though it had been cut with a crash-ax where the pipes went through. 3" pipes through 1" diameter holes.

The Aljo, Layton and Nomad are all manufacutured by Skyline. They are the same units, just different names with different color schemes. We bought our 2000 Layton 2610 TT almost 2 years ago and have towed it over 9,000 miles, staying in it about 60 nights. I have no complaints and think that for the money, they are a very good entry level unit. You can buy much nicer RVs but will also pay more. I see a lot of older ones still on the road here in AZ. The previous post is one of the few negative comments I've ever heard about them.

The one I have now is my first so here goes. The two biggest problems I had were the Goodyear marathons and the Dexter brakes that both had serious defects. Blown tires and a blown drum. No fun. :( But that could have been on any trailer built between 95 and 97. The only problem with the trailer was a much needed ajustment to the slide out. It was pushing out to far before stopping, putting pressure on the exterior to bulge out. So far so good with everything else. No leaks, everything works. Good luck with whatever you choose. Wish I had the 5ver;)

We bought a new Aljo TT in '95 and used it for six trouble free years. It was a deluxe model with mirrored cabinet doors and all the extras. No leaks that I knew of and for the money it was a nice travel trailer. We traded it in our 5th wheel for better towing comfort on the highway. I would likely buy another Aljo if we found a 5th wheel we liked and I still couldn't afford a Travel Supreme!:D
