What DO you like?

We kinda started this way on another thread so I thought we could air it out here. This may bring up some non-diesel trucks so forgive its being in GDT. If we don't stray too far into the past we might get to stay here.

1978/9 Ford is my Favorite. And I may put a 5. 9 in one of those. And that body goes back to 74.

The only Chevys I've ever liked were the '72 or thereabout models--dunno exactly never owned a Chevy.

Just stinking love the 94-02 Dodge! 03 is okay outside, but interior is big turd.

NEVER liked Ford Super Dooty. ESPECIALLY the current one--see playdough comment in "GM board" thread. The F150 was cool up until mid 90's change, but I don't even consider 1/2 tons real trucks anymore.

So my ultimate composite truck would be a 1978 F-250 LB camper special king cab "Ranger XLT" (when "ranger" meant truck not go-cart with a 2. 3)with a 500 HP Cummins 5. 9 and NV5600, 4. 11's, 4x4, 36" tires, 3-4 inches lift, and twin 5" stacks, painted ASAT camo.

Now that's a truck.

Hmm... it's a toss-up. My favorite out of the ones I've owned is a 77 W200 - I like the turn signals inside the headlights and the recessed panels on the hood. The hubless front axle looks good with the factory steel wheels, too. The metal grille is nice, too. I also like the 70s Fords, and how it looks like they're leaning forward, with the forward-slanted grille. Chevy trucks have always seemed... . plain vanilla... to me - there really isn't anything about them that makes them stand out. IH Scout IIs looked good, with the boxy front end and tapered rear side windows.

So, I guess I have to say 77-78 Dodge W-series with recessed-panel hood.

74-77 Ford F250 4x4 is my all time favorite and I had a 75 I bought new and finally sold after 23 years and 235,000. A guy chased me down and just had to have it and I got $500. 00 less than I paid for it new. I never thought I would like the Dodge as well as I do but its a great truck.

I like all to Dodge truck body's from 71 to 93. I have owned a 76 1/2 ton short box. A 78 W250 long box. Plus my 93 W350.

In the Chevy line I like the 68 to 72 series. I have owned 5 C30's in the last 20 years. 2ea 69's > 2ea 70's > 1 ea 72.

Ford. Lets don't even go there. But if we do it would be a 32 to 36 model or a 40 model on the pickup line.

mid to late 60's gmc & chevy pickup's.

early broncos

80's jeep scrambler

land rover defender 90's

those are my choices

but i still would love to build up a 97-98 jeep tj with a 170hp 3. 9 ISB, atlasII t-case, high clearence d60's, nv4500, 4. 1 gears, 35x14. 5 tires... painted flat olive military color:D:D

The only Chevys I've ever liked where the 72 or thereabout models--dunno exactly never owned a Chevy.

Wade, your thinking about 70-72's, a short box 2WD that is real slick will bring 10-11K now... ... . yea worth there weight in gold!

Gotta go with my now old, 95 3500. Nothing subtle about it. All Truck.

But the first truck I remember is Dad's old 49 Chevrolet. Every time I see one that's been restored or even hot-rodded I start thinking, someday.

I wonder, how would a little 4bt work in a old 5 window? Hummmm.

RJR

I remeber back in 93 when I saw the new Dodge truck debut at the big auto show in Detroit I believe it was. I thought it was the best looking truck made. I knew I was getting one.

I've had 3 now. 4 if you count the Durango which has the same front end. :)

Being an old-timer, and hot-rodder, some of the vintage stuff appeals to me - the '51 Chevy I had with the 327 V8 and OD transmission was a sweet truck - I like the '53 era Fords - as well as the '34 fords...

Of course, my '67 Datsun pickup, with the B&M blown built-up 350 Chevy V8 and OD transmission/Ford rearend came out real nice too... ;) :D

BUT, as far as *I* am concerned, the truck NOW sitting out in my garage is, and possibly always WILL BE the absolutely nicest all-around truck I've ever owned - in terms of appearance, comfort and raw POWER!

Ditto Lurch ...

"379 extended hood Pete with a flat-top. ... "

What Lurch said ... very nice

Otherwise, the pre-Superduty F350's looked nice.

The 58 Chevy Apache 1/2 ton 4x4 (Napco) with a 425hp 396 (tri-power) that I had. Went everywhere and beat almost eveything on the street.

I gotta go with the 81-93 Dodge body style, absolutly love it... and it shows! I've owned a 81 D150, 82 D150, 83 D150, 86 D150, 86 D250, 89 W150, and finally my 91 W250 and 92 D250 diesels! I haven't gone wrong yet!#ad
