Allison automatic trans (DMax) is "light duty"

Why am I posting this, you may ask?

Some of the TDR posts here refer to the Cummis ISB as a

Medium/Heavy duty engine, and the DMax as a Light Duty

engine (something like that). Thought I'd post this to show

that the Allison transmission behind the DMax is 'just enough, not

too much' transmission. I want a Medium/heavy duty auto transmission

to come out for the new ISB-E! Not the same Allison GM is

using. I can live with a little bit of gear noise.

Actually, if I read the post correctly, the statement says that the transmission is rated higher than the truck requires. Not "just enough".

Yes its rated a little higher than what the stock torque the dmax has now. Which means it's NOT ENOUGH for us!!!

Let me Clarify...

I'm wondering how long the Allison 1000 will last behind a

BOMBED Duramax.



It's a lot cheaper to replace a clutch than a transmission.



I'm not knocking the Allison. It's a good product and

will last a LONG time with stock power.



As for "Just Enough", there will likely be power increases

as the years pass so the DMax can keep up with the

competition. I'm wondering how much there is left for

GM to work with that's all.

Did you notice,only 3 year 36 thousand mile warranty on the Allison through GM. That sucks. .
