Since the NP205, I can't recall of any OEM light-duty (pickup truck) xfer cases that were gear driven.

I'm looking at buying the wife a 3rd gen. but she insists on an auto. Never been too impressed w/ the 47re whatever auto. so I was pleasantly surprised to see you can get an Allison behind a cummins now. My question is, can you use boxes on the engine or will the Allison not like it and screw up since it's all electronic? Also, what kind of cost would be involved for the complete kit? I can install it on my own, have everything I need as far as tools go.

It is a 4 spd without an OD or lockup converter. Pretty much useless for something you drive on the road and want to do the speed limit with.
