let me start a new argument...

Forgot - I'm not pulling a trailer....

I went yesterday to look at my house being built and of course it was pouring down rain everything was muddy well this guy had one of those dumpster removal trucks that picks up the dumpster kid of like a roll back and takes it and dumps it, its one of those dumpsters on construction sites well he had it buried in the mud trying to back up to a dumpster the truck had three axles in the back it was a large truck well I told him I would pull him out if he nneded it and he said yeah right you couldnt budge it well if I would have hooked up to him I would have been on the black top and put it in 4 low I think it would have no problem well Im just curious what you guys think and he ended up getting out himself!!:-{}

?

:rolleyes: I think I would bomb it first before

trying to pull out that big boy. . ha. ha. Oo. Who know you may have had the edge being on black top. :D :D :D

Reminds me of a time I was working as a farmhand.

We were breaking a quarter of land pulling this little wee breaking plow with a big Staeger (sp) Panther quad duallie 4 wheel drive tractor. On the same quarter was this D-8 that got bogged in a mud hole.

We hooked on to the D-8 from dry hard ground knowing there was no way we were going to pull out a bogged cat of that size. What we did do was to provide some pull (doing an 8 wheel spin) that allowed the cat to work its way out.

Garbage truck guy should have used your help... would've made it easier for him.

If it was raining, I suspect that you would have lost traction before doing much good. Might be fun to try though.

Its doubtful you would have pulled him out,but you sure would have helped, with you pulling he probably would have been able to get out a lot faster,all 4 on blacktop ,even wet blacktop is still some good traction.

A friend of mine pulled out a loaded ( 40,000 pound) tandem axle dump truck in a similar situation. The pickup truck was definitely being pushed to the limit. It left four wheel marks on the pavement and into the neighbors yard as well. It is crazy stories like this that led me to want the stout power of the Turbo Diesel

Maybe you should have tried. Now you will be wondering if you could have or not. I have had opportunities like this, but with my 2wd drive I just offer to let them use the phone. Heck I get stuck by myself too easy much less without any help.

I pulled a well drilling rig last year out of a hole the rig was not stuck just would not pull itself out. locked her in low and used a tow strap and eased right out of the hole. It doesnt take alot typically to get a large mass moving if you use a tow strap your tug is amplified alot. Chains will hurt peaple saw a chain break and destroy a back window once enough said . Patrick

I carry a 1" nylon rope. Attach it to whatever is stuck, leave a bit of slack, go! Pulls most anything out. Broke a 3" welded gate some fool locked me in on public land once. I've pulled tractors, trucks, and cars out with one attempt. I can't say it would have worked in this situation, but I carry a loaner shovel he could use... .
