Well, as a V-10 owner who has been lurking here for almost a year, I finally decided to come to the "dark side". Went to the dealer last week and ordered up a 2001. 5 ETH/DEE 3500 QuadCab 4x2 SLT+ with Sport package, 4. 10 axle, camper & towing packages, all the goodies, bright white with tan leather to tow our 13,500 lb GVWR 5th wheel - the truck is rated for 21,500 GCVWR and 14,700 trailer. Signed the contract, put down the deposit, immediately joined the TDR. Got the VON this Monday. Dealer called yesterday and said, "Sorry, Dodge won't build your truck. They've cut off production of the 3500's for the 2001 model year. "
The dealer tried a search of the southern and southwestern U. S. and couldn't find a truck like I had ordered - no surprise since another dealer had already done a search before I ordered the truck.
So, I took my deposit check back and went to the house. Here I sit at work, cash in hand and can't buy the truck. Guess I'll wait to order a 2002 - heck, might as well wait for the 2003. Maybe I'll go by the Chebby dealer and look at a Duracrap on the way home - in desperation, I've already looked at a Crew Cab Lariat 4x4 SuperDoody with PSD & 6-speed, 4. 10 axles - the wimpy thing is only rated for 12,500 trailer... .
