these would be perfect IF........

they went all the way up to the body moulding... . i called and asked a couple of years ago and they said they would not do a one off.....

has anyone checked lately?

I looked into that type of panel too - virtually every one I found attached with some form of adhesive tape, and WOULD allow moisture to get between the panel and body sheetmetal, creating rust problems - especially in the colder climates - consider carefully if you plan to keep the truck a long time...

Gary mentions something that can be a problem (rust), something to think about for those mounting something like this is to forget the tape and use 1 or 2 SS rivets, then liberally apply rvt silicon to the surface. I did this to jimmy I had years ago with great results. Only problem is drilling the holes, I hate taking a drill to body panels.

I had not seen those panels before, ... those are great looking units! hmmm...

rust?

gary, you live in vacaville... . it's like a zillion degrees there in the summer!! ;)

i'm thinking if you left gaps at the bottom of the panel (using tape of course) would eliminate, eventually, any unwanted moisture.

they use adhesive tape for the body side moulding.

my aversion to the rivets is probably the reason i still have my diamond plate rocker covers in the basement... .

The stainless ones I put on my blazer had the 3-M tape on the back. The tape covered every bit of the panel except for 1/8" around the edges. I never saw a problem with moisture behind them since almost 100% of the panel is taped. Once they are on, they are there, man that stuff sticks.

I would suspect that instead of trying to completely seal the edges of that type of panel - nearly an impossibility - you would be better off to leave substantial gaps to allow ventilation between the 2 panels - but trapped road salts in colder areas of the country would probably still be a problem even then... Any way, I gave up on the idea, and would like to eventually do the lower erea of my truck with the same Line-X stuff I have in the truck bed...
