Off Roading McCaslin Mt. December '05 wheelin trip

a fuel motor is pushing about 60 PSI boost and makes about 7500 hp

it will burn 15 gal of Nitro in less then 5 seconds

how many cc in a gallon, x 15 . the pump on a fuel motor has a 2 . 5 inch inlet, and takes 500 hp to turn .

Hey! And back at ya buddy!

Lets get a beer this summer, so I can tell you what I really think about you, without the TDR censors!!! :D

Here is what a pulling truck looks like on a dragstrip:

from the information i have read on top fuel cars in books and the internet. top fuel cars run 43psi of boost and consume 1. 5 gal of nitro at full throttle per second.

that would have been right about 10 years ago, Ive turned wrenches on then in the last 5 years , and recently since the nitro was reduced to 85% the boost has really turned up , the fuel is closer to 3 gals per second .

i found some more info. i found a site that has some info for 85% nitro. a top fuel dragster uses a total of 23 gal of nitro for the burnout and to run the 1/4 mile. boost went up from 43 to 45. 5psi.

are good for over 1600hp and 2800 ft-lb of torque.

How do they know they are good for that much? Did they reach that goal and have a rod fail???

Exactly. I wanna know how long they'll last under high loads and high EGTs.

And as I keep saying, "what's so wrong with the stock ones?" I have talked to many people about doing rods over the last few years, and yes, it would reduce the rotating and reciprocating mass, but, there are easier and cheaper places to get those benefits, with less risks.

Please, someone put a set of these in a engine, and do a back to back. I bet no more than 20HP gain. If this was a critical comp engine, and wanting max HP/CI, sure, but for us, just pour more fuel and air, and mabe other fluids at it.

So for now, we are friends with ferrous materials... .

If you want to see a 1600hp B dyno run, just take a trip to beautiful Vallonia,IN. But I doubt you'll see any those particular rods there!

Is there something happing in Vallonia,IN. that we should know about.
