Am I dumb? How do I remove the tail light assy?!?!?

Once you remove the two torque bolts, you put your fingers on the outside of the assemble (opposite the two bolts on the outside of the body), between the light assemble and the body, and carefully pry it away from two clips. The lamp assemble will pop out. Don't use a screwdriver to pry as you will chip the paint. Use your fingers! Have fun... ;)

yep... that is all it takes... there is a couple of locating dowels in the lamp assembly that go through some rubber grommits and the dowel is larger at the end where it goes through the grommit so it sorta locks it in there...
 
I thought I broke something when I first took mine off. It was just being a bugger. Once you figure out how to do it once the 2nd time will be easy.
 
It's kind of a nightmare especially if there is a lot of dirt up in there to make the dowells, or pins, stick in their holes more. If I remember right, you have to sort of pull or push the light assy away from the bed. I think you actually have to try to push the entire lamp sideways to get the pins to pop out of the grommets. The pins are on the outboard side of the lamp. Good luck.
