The picture of the AMP step will have to wait about a week. When we took the truck into a Dodge dealer for an oil/filter change Dutch asked them to check the ring and pinion seal as it seemed to be leaking. After the oil change they said they could not bet the nut off yoke and were going to have to heat it. They told us they were going to order parts {new shaft, etc}just in case something was damage or broken during this process. Of course this is on a Friday morning. They gave us a rental and said their hope is to have it fixed and back to us by Friday November 7th. I sure hope so as we have to be out of this RV park on the 9th. Depending on when we get the truck back, we will install the step and take pictures either here or at the next RV park. Another frustrating trip to Dodge. Hugs, Di

Here are a couple pics. I have to install the DOM sleeves.

I am very pleased with how well it works!

There is another option for side steps on a dually...I went through this issue going from a truck with full length running boards to a Longhorn with factory running boards. Luverne makes a side step that is retractable and very strong called Step-Up. Like the Amp step it is not very cheap but I can tell you it is very strong and well constructed as I have one on both sides of my dually and have had them ther for over 3 years. They tuck up underneath the fender very tightly and drop down with a locking tab. They are a little lower than I would really like but do make it possible to latch my fifth wheel hitch.http://www.luvernetruck.com/Product_Line/Box_Steps/StepUp_Box_Step/StepUp_Applications/StepUp420100-421032-33_-425060-.pdf

Put some non slip on the step. Used the step several times on a trip to SoCal and back to WA it worked great. Nice to have both feet on the step. Easy to access the tool box and hitch.

We finally got our passenger AMP step installed. There was a small Riv nut missing in the box and it took forever to get. We have to move in the morning and will be "set" down for a week so I can post pictures then. Sorry, but my heart has been acting up again and I have had no energy to go out and take pictures. Yes, they are pricy but they are the only ones that Dutch could find that would install where he needed them. Hugs, Di

Thanks for the update. Make sure Dutch is taking good care of you! I am sure he is.

Can't wait for May Madness so we can "rub hips" with our new Dually trucks!

Hello Di,

Any chance you can upload a couple of pics of your new BedStep2?

Thanks in advance,

John L.

Hi John & other posters,
Sorry for the delay, this A-Fib really throws me for a loop quite a bit of the time.
I will make sure I take pictures tomorrow but can you let me know what pictures you'd like. Just the outer showing where it is in relationship to the wheel well? Underneath?? Let me know and I will get it to you. Hugs, Di

Hi Di,

Sorry to hear you're not back up to feeling 100% again. Hang in there!

I'm mainly interested in seeing the location of the step in relation to something... be it the wheel well or the cab... and how it looks both stowed and deployed. No need to see the mounting setup for me as I trust Amp will do that right.

Thanks!

John

Hi All
Here are 5 pictures. 4 are of the passenger side bedstep open and closed. I hope the pictures come out so that you can see them as I couldn't move the truck right then and had a "sun" issue. I will re do them if no one can see the info they need.
Picture # 5 of the drivers side. I took this picture because Dutch said it was din a different location. I'm sorry but with my health, my memory is shot right now and I can't remember what he told me as to why it was different. When he gets back, I'll ask him again and add that to my post.
They really do a great job of us getting into the bed of the truck and reaching the hitch. Hugs, Di

Thank you for taking and posting the pics Di!

They look great and possibly even in the perfect location.

I can't wait until Amp Research makes kits available.

John

Ok, Here's the skinny on the 2 amp steps looking like they are in different locations. The actual mountings are alike side to side, but you can locate the actual rubber step in 2 positions so you can move it forward or back depending on where you wish to stand. Hugs, Di

The drivers side is mounted similar to mine as far as distance from the tire. Other side would make it too hard to access my tool box and hitch. Looks like a winner. Good thing because the one they previously offered was useless being near the front of the bed.
