Has any member used the new +3 from amsoil
that pulls atrailier?I pull a5th wheel and
want to get good feedback before I chage.
 
I pull a 32' 3/tip outs 5th wheel with Amsoil ATF installed in the transmission. One thing I did notice is that when you put it in gear after setting overnight, it would take 10-30 seconds to start working. I added Lubegard (1oz per quart of AFT) and that corrected that (no slippage)!
You might want to go for the new Amsoil ATE, which is made for the Mopar specs.

The "new" (ATE) Amsoil trans fluid for Chrysler products is designated ATF-4. I have have had it in my '96 Ram 2500 for about a month with some towing of two horses and all is well. I had previously used the Amsoil ATF with equally good results.

The PowerShop in Enumclaw, WA. has been using the new Amsoil +3/+4 synthetic ATF as a transmission enhancement option for about a month now (if the customer elects to spend the extra money for this ATF). They have experienced very favorible results with this ATF. TCC chatter has been eliminated whereas previously, the "standard" Amsoil and Red Line synthetic ATFs had on occasion, exhibited some degree of chatter.

I will be having my transmission refilled with the Amsoil +3/+4 synthetic ATF in several weeks when The PowerShop installs my "special 215LY" BD "Medium Stall" TC, valve body, PressureLoc and BD's trick modified pump assembly. Can't wait!

OBTW, the owner as well as the shop foreman of The PowerShop took the time to disassemble the modified BD pump assembly to show me the trick modifications made by BD. Very impressive. A lot of thought was given to all of these enhancements... things the factory should have done in the first place! In fact, they didn't even try to sell me the modified pump, I requested (demanded it really) to be part of my transmission upgrade.

The new Amsoil synthetic transmission fluid is the ATE and is designed for Chrysler/Dodge trannies only. It is a different formulation altogether from their other 2 transmission fluids.

D/C has a TSB which states that Mopar ATF+4 is of a different formulation than ATF+3 and that ATF+3 is the required/designated fluid for rear wheel drive vehicles. Before I learned this, I tried Mopar +4 in my Ram and it changed the shift qualities. I drained and refilled with +3 and the shift quality came back. What is the specific shift formulation for the Amsoil ATE and how is it suited for applications requiring ATF+3?

Yesterday when I was looking at the back of the new Amsoil synthetic ATF +3/+4 container, it was stated that this formulation was for both the +3 and +4 applications.
 
To all concerned,
The new Amsoil ATF that is to be used in the Chrysler vehicles is formulated specificlly to meet Chrysler specs for 100,000+ miles' service. It has different "friction" characteristics than Ford or GM vehicles. The Chrysler specs also require higher oxidation stability, more so than Ford or GM.

This ATF fluid has been designated a part number of ATE by Amsoil, and exceeds the performance specifications for Chrysler ATF+, +2, +3, +4; MS-7176 A,B,C,D & E;MS-902A.

Kinematic Visc. @100 C. ,cSt 7. 5, the requirement is 7. 3-7. 8.

Pour Point deg. F is -60, the requirement is -40 minimum.

Brookfield @-40 deg. C cP is:7730 requirement is <10,000.

I use Mopar ATF plus 3 in my transmission. The shifting pattern was the same? I want to use Chevron ATF plus 3 next time. Will it change rhe shift pattern? Thanks !
