I agree with JJW_ND. In fact, I have oil analysis reports that substantiate that Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 HDD protects better (based on wear or lack thereof) than (in reverse order of my usage):
*Amsoil 15W-40 HDD&M (100% synthetic)(excellent oil analysis report however, not as good as the Series 3000 5W-30 HDD)
*Valvoline/Cummins Premium Blue 2000 (semi-synthetic)(drained it out after 2k mi. for several different reasons)
*Red Line 15W-40 (100% synthetic)(marginal oil analysis reports from two DIFFERENT labs, especially when considering the high price per quart)
*Valvoline/Cummins Premium Blue (used for break-in only... 13k)
What can I say, I'm sold on the Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 HDD

Redram, I have not personally tried Royal Purple mainly because of availability. HOWEVER, I'm not a died-in-the-wool Amsoil supporter either. Although I became a dealer after I tried their products (to save money), I have probably tried almost every other synthetic on the market (and some from companies that are now defunct... such as HPS). I have been using quality synthetics such as HPS, Red Line, Amsoil, NEO, Mobil and others since sometime in the '70s in EVERYTHING I own (especially my numerous, Honda powered equipment). Heck, even Kendall had a semi-synthetic (silver can) in the late '70s or early '80s that I tried for a while. Yah, and I tried the Arco Graphite too (although I didn't have any of the problems others experienced with it). I try to keep an open mind to lubrication... I just haven't got around to trying Royal Purple yet, I guess, mainly because I'm pleased with the results of my current oil.
BTW, I wish I was the fox with a full run of the hen house.
