I agree with JJW_ND. In fact, I have oil analysis reports that substantiate that Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 HDD protects better (based on wear or lack thereof) than (in reverse order of my usage):

*Amsoil 15W-40 HDD&M (100% synthetic)(excellent oil analysis report however, not as good as the Series 3000 5W-30 HDD)

*Valvoline/Cummins Premium Blue 2000 (semi-synthetic)(drained it out after 2k mi. for several different reasons)

*Red Line 15W-40 (100% synthetic)(marginal oil analysis reports from two DIFFERENT labs, especially when considering the high price per quart)

*Valvoline/Cummins Premium Blue (used for break-in only... 13k)

What can I say, I'm sold on the Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 HDD #ad

Redram, I have not personally tried Royal Purple mainly because of availability. HOWEVER, I'm not a died-in-the-wool Amsoil supporter either. Although I became a dealer after I tried their products (to save money), I have probably tried almost every other synthetic on the market (and some from companies that are now defunct... such as HPS). I have been using quality synthetics such as HPS, Red Line, Amsoil, NEO, Mobil and others since sometime in the '70s in EVERYTHING I own (especially my numerous, Honda powered equipment). Heck, even Kendall had a semi-synthetic (silver can) in the late '70s or early '80s that I tried for a while. Yah, and I tried the Arco Graphite too (although I didn't have any of the problems others experienced with it). I try to keep an open mind to lubrication... I just haven't got around to trying Royal Purple yet, I guess, mainly because I'm pleased with the results of my current oil.

BTW, I wish I was the fox with a full run of the hen house. #ad

Nothing stirrs contraversy like polletics, religion, gun control and what oil you put in your engine.

Delvac 1 in the VW
Rotella in the Dodge
Amsoil in both as soon as it warms up.

I believe Royal Purple is an excellent company, considering their short time in the synthetics field.

Jumping on the synthetics bandwagon in 1986, they have covered a lot of ground.
I have a lot of respect for what the founder did. The road was bumpy in the synthetic area. Fighting big oil is always tough. Luckily for him, Amsoil led the way 14 years before that!
It is good to have this sort of competiton in any field. It can only make all products better. At this point, the products I use in my truck, for the money, I feel the Amsoil can't be beat. This may not be the case for Bob and Harry across the street. They can run what they want, more power to them.

Rub people the wrong way? Part timer?
So I'm a bad guy for saying what I believe in and not being a slave to a corporation?
Ok, I can live with that.

Funny how people complain about oil threads, but they ALWAYS READ THEM!

Actually the founder of Royal Purple had the first or one of the first API approved oils available in the early 70s. Even did a 100,000 field test run without an oil / filter change.
Although Royal Purple has beginnings as a company in the mid 80's, the talented RP founders and formulators have synthetic experience in both industrial and automotive synthetics that are virtually the same time frame as Mobil and Amsoil in the early 70's.

Early synthetics actually predate WWII and the Germans when Amoco researchers developed some in the early 20's.

I wonder if this makes the First in Synthetics statement a marketing issue.
