Anarchy Offroad Custom Long Arms for Dodge Pickup

I wanted to tell everyone about some work that I am getting done on my 2003 Dodge Ram HO CTD. I live in Utah and have been looking for a nice suspension upgrade that will not only give me a smoother ride but also make the handling much better, well after looking around I had a hard time trying to decide which route to go every kit was either to cheaply built or outrageously expensive, well when I was out checking I started speaking to Brandon at Anarchy Offroad, He had built my Custom Long Arm Suspension on my Jeep Wrangler, as well as built many rock crawlers and competed in many rock crawling championships. Anyway back on subject he was saying that he wanted to build a "CUSTOM" Long Arm Suspension kit for the Dodge Pickup both 2nd and 3rd generation trucks. I was really excited upon talking to him about this because of his vast knowledge on building custom suspension. Well to make a long story short my truck is in his shop right now as he is building the kit for it. Both the upper and lower control arms are much stronger then the factory he has cut off all the factory control arm brackets and is building some custom control arm brackets, and has installed all bilstein shocks to improve the overall ride quality of the truck as well as the appearance. I will keep you updated on the progress but so far the truck is looking way SWEET. I will try to get some pictures to post up.

I just found out some more information about the arms, The lower arms are 14 inches longer then stock and the uppers are 7 inches longer, and they are adjustable just like my Jeep Wrangler TJ arms so you will be able to get your front axle right where you want it.

:--) What's that gonna do to your wheelbase?

It's not going to do anything to my wheel base unless we adjust the arms really far out there. You have to remember, the Stock Control arm brackets are being removed completely and new one are being placed farther back on the Frame so you can have longer control arms and a nicer ride.

Got it! I didn't realize he was going to move the mounting points further to the rear.

That is why it is going to be so much nicer. We have been looking and I haven't been able to find a Long Arm kit like it for my truck that is why he decided to start making them, My truck is a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab CTD HO, He is also going to make them for the 2nd Generation dodge trucks

How is he attaching the new mounts to the frame? Is he welding them on?

On mine he is welding them to the frame. I think he is going to have the option of having it welded or bolted to the frame.

Those arms don't sound very long to me.

that is as long as the arms can be if you went any longer you would be close to your rear shackle. Remember this is going to be top notch quality kit and even the older style dodge long arm kits don't even change the upper arm mount so what kind of long arm is that besides the fact most kits don't even use adjustable arms, They also use auto cad design and he wanted the upper a little longer but this extremely pushes the limits as it is with clearance issue's.

What's the word on welding to these hydroformed frames? Is this a safe practice? I know that we're not supposed to drill them for 5th wheel hitches and such. I haven't heard if welding would be viewed the same as drilling.

Reusing the stock spring & shocks or upgrading? Increasing the arm length(s) alone won't make dramatic changes in the ride quality or handling.

I think lengthing the arms will reduce the impact transmitted to the frame on small high speed (expansion joint type) bumps which would make mine a nicer ride. Or not. It would be interesting to test drive.

I will get you all pictures as soon as I can. Now below for the answers to your questions.

we will get pics when we can!

Longer flatter arms do improve ride quality and handling especially on a lifted vehicle. Impact bumps and overall suspension Floating and Jacking is also reduced.

Welding to the frame or sleeving shouldn't be any problem. The original hydroformed frame that is three piece is butt/joint welded together in three spots plus the quality of Brandon's welds compared to what I saw on the stock factory bracket is alot nicer looking and since he builds championship winning vehicles for a living at his shop I'm sure like my jeep suspension he did I will enjoy this setup. He's awesome when it comes to problems and if there is one thing I know its I'm in good hands with him...

Yeah longer arms = smoother ride, more so when lifted.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee has long arms... the fronts are 36", rears are 46". Thing rides like a Caddy compared to my truck.
