After a long wait I finally got it done. A special thanks goes out to Bill and the folks at DTT for the products, but also to James Nothum for the install and hard work. As far as the transmission it got an 89, V/B, 5 Clutch update, billet hub, solenoid, and other stuff because of this! O/D clutches were burned up, blue not black, direct clutches were slipping, O/D enguagement spring was real weak and converter was slipping, I at one time thought about doing this myself, glad I changed my mind on that one. It's nice to have someone do this that knows what is going on and why it workes that way, as well as one that goes the extra mile to make sure you are happy with it, not just a customer but a partnership. The truck is different behond comparision, nothing I mean nothing is the same, I've put 13k on this stock stuff and it is all different, feel, driving, sound everything is different, not even the same truck. You don't pull those half throttle takeoffs anymore unless you know there are no cops around. I just can't get get over how it covers ground now and doesn't sound like it's winding out cause now the power is on the ground and not out of the tailpipe. Lockup is kinda a joke, If you running down the road at 70(2K) and unlock it with the switch it gains about 75 rpm, then if you jump on it, the converter will go to say 2200 unlocked at the same speed except now it gaining speed. I'm not sure I really like lockup anymore except cruising on the open road I just don't see a need in it except What that 75 (light throttle) rpm and maybe a little cooler running. It shifts firm but not jerky like going from direct to O/D with the converter locked(yea I did it in the stock stuff... . not recommended) Heck James was checking it out at 20MPH in second jammin on it breaking the tires loose, try that in stock form, I will add a different fueling curve next week but anything else will have to wait for more $. Anyone of you that is around OKC is more that welcome to come drive it so you can see the light too.

Going to Abbotsford tomorrow morning for 89 and VB. You guys are costing me a fortune! I'm sure I'll be smiling Tues afternoon coming home on I-5.

Bill & crew are the best! I don't quite understand why others even consider the other brands out there. Bill is the transmission genius and his products simply cannot be beat.

If your like me on your way home you'll look for a reason to pull over just so you can run through the gears. I would be willing to bet you won't make it out of the parking lot without smiling;) Enjoy it.

I drove Boldt's Wagon's truck. Worked very nicely. The converter seemed looser to me than I like (I like it TIGHT), but the truck was a very good driver, wtih good shift points and proper downshifting.

Wish mine worked that well :(

Way to go Jim! I've had my DTT upgrade for over a year now and I'm still as pleased with it today as the day I drove home from Abbotsford, B. C. :D

I finally installed my DTT Smart Controller last week... what an awesome product! After having a BD TorqLoc, the Smart Controller is simply, light years ahead of the antiquated TorqLoc!

Thanks DTT!

A smart controller and a turbo saver are both on my list, in the mean time I'm using a dimmer switch as an unlock. I'm still getting use to the power to the ground thing, pulled one of those why am I at 3k while accelerating on a off street, well it's called OD out and 75 MPH in a 50 zone(oops... ... break check) today I was on a 2 lane with good conditions except cold and would get to 25 or so then rool into it, and it down shifted to 2nd then boost to 34 and 3rd gear spinning, the first time you do this you think whats wrong then you look in the mirror at the marks. Oo.

Jim, Just got home, only took a couple of detours off the freeway. The performance from the trans is incredible compared to stock. Having the DDII's added and timing set didn't hurt. I'm curious just how many shops encourage you to spend 1. 5 days observing them R & R your Trans. strip it to the cases, explain the updates, rebuild, adjust and test? Not too many I bet. Only experts, confident in their product would do that. I'm impressed and I'm smiling:cool: big time. George

What James did with me was after the install was complete he brought the parts out to me like the burned up clutches ect and showed me more how it all works ans answered several questions but most I had asked a long time ago. I didn't watch him do the work for 2 reasons, 1 liability issues with the shop and 2 he would never get anything done cause I like to chat as does he. A saying I like is it's not customer/ installer work it's a partnership. Would will learn to love it more as you drive it and I never can quit smiling when I put it in gear.
