The tail pipe on my truck is nearing the end of its life, prompting me to make a decision. I wouldn't mind lowering my temps 100 degree's or so when I'm pulling the local mountain passes. It only goes high if I really push it (spanking DMAX ;)) but lowering would be nice if possible however, I want a QUIET truck.
It's beginning to sound like the big Donaldson mufflers are louder so now I'm wondering if maybe a stock muffler and tailpipe of a newer (06 or ?) truck which is a little bigger (. 5") would make much of a difference. Anyone know the flow rates of the stock parts or for that matter, anyone got a young take-off I could try?

Thanks in advance,
Scotty

I doubt you would notice a 10° difference, let alone a 100° one.

I have a Donaldson and couldn't tell a difference.

I think you'll find that the tailpiepes are all 4". The "600" and later engines use a 4" engine pipe with a catalyst where your signature truck uses a 3-1/2" engine pipe. If you want to lower EGT, use a different turbo and manifold. The stock turbo on your truck is the biggest restriction in the exhaust.

A 04. 5-07 exhaust elbow, and 4" TBE will your best bet if you want to drop some coin, but don't expect miracles.
