Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) another fuel pump gone?

i just installed my gauge tonight, hooked it to the injection pump line with a 3 foot fuel line i did not bleed the air from the line i heard on here it acts like a cushion . i am reading 8 psi idle and 3 when i get on it a little. my question is if the air in the line will still give me a correct reading? i know change the fuel filter and try that but it was getting dark tomorrow i will try the inlet to the filter to see my reading there. any info will be appreciated.

as you stated check your fuel filter. sounds like

pump going out. mine went bad at 24000 miles

and no indication that it was going bad untill

checked. sorry.
